yeah that's what i am planning to do. you know someone reminded me the other day that no employee ever got rich---meaning that you don't get rich by working for somebody. you need to be creative and do your own thing.

so i need to roll up my sleeves and get to work.

by the way, i am a citizen of both countries: kenya and somalia. lucky me!

Your a few years ahead of me....I don`t graduate until this summer.
Even before I started studying I knew that eventually I wanted to work for myself.

Gaining a degree in petroleum geology and entering the oil/gas industry, is my preferred route to raising seed money.

IMHO, the best way is - build your own business. It's difficult, but it's working and also, it's better then just work like an employee. (And you'll be proud to say - I'm an OWNER! )
To do this, you must learn, and learn, and learn! (Oh, yes, you can just open a small shop. But if enviroment changes, you business can fall at easy. Learning is a guarantee of your endurance in business, you are learning mostly how to avoid errors in your business.)
An area of business isn't really important. You can do anything - anything is need to people. Today most require business is in computing, energetics and aerospace areas, but this is my IMHO. You also can try yourself at investments, banking, international or internet trading.
So, the good starting point is to read some books. Up in the topic someone said about Kiyosaki's books - and that's a good books. Also you can read Marks "Capital" for understanding a basics of capitalism (but don't read the second part of this book with dumb communism delirium). Start with them, try to read other books about business, and - go on! Remember, you can everything, nothing can stop you!

for couple years a close of relative told me, mo ey is in asia. we went there with 1500 he borrowed, he started small bit but not he assets over 150 000 US and the worse he is 3 months younger than me!

development countries has so many competitions compared some were in africa or asia. no tax fir your income etc ( still you have to pay zakat).

what he does is, he lives in china, he is kind of contractor or middle man. he sends goods per orders to Europe, north america and middle east.

i remember that time i was fresgmen in university, he asked me if i want to loan him some money. i told him im broke but i can get spare him few hundred $. markaas tarhiilku ko jiray. he thought will be end of the word if he deported!

excatly. i can recall many similar stories where some individuals i know did something at the time seemed to me implousible but who are now really enjoying a decent income from their businesses and all the freedom that comes with it. it is a beautiful thing.

my goal now is to improve my intrepreneurial skills so that when an opportunity comes i can take a full advantage of it. may allah make it easy for me. amin.

baraka what degree did you do? yes these days it seems like experience is a must criteria they are looking for in a job candidate but dont regret your investment at uni. think about it, the knowledge you gained will not only benefit you but when you have kids you are able to assist them with their homeworks e.t.c.
