Land is owned by someone. Its not free. You can't claim uninhabited land because some clan/group says its theirs. SO unless you are from those groups, you can't simply fence off a piece and declare it your own. I can do such a thing in my juffo's turf but not beyond that.

Federally owned, or "my toothless ayeeyo and awoowe roamed this currently empty section of Somalia" owned?

The clan approach to land ownership will only restrict people (especially entrepreneurs) to the location of their supposed ancestry/group. Business is all about investing in places that will increase your profit in the long run, so why would anyone want to adhere to clan property rules, which are nothing more than a line in the sand? It would be understandable if regional administrations or the federal government was/were competent enough to yield the power needed to expand their federal property to the less populated and inhabited areas of Somalia. But, there is too much land, too little of government power and organization, and a young generation who wants to think outside the clan box.

It's much more reasonable to purchase land from the government, rather then from an illiterate ugaas of some clan/group who grew up in a village with four huts. Why would any sane person want to purchase land at an extremely high cost, when there is plenty of land that is not yet legally owned. It's way better if someone claimed a land (with little site value), build a business preferably (and created a building value), and then paid property tax to the local government. Kinda of a win-win situation.

This land my pops owned, he was offered 800 for each plot but now after 5 months they are offering 6000 for a plot. Its gonna suck not to cash out on them now wallahi and find out that they decreased massively after 6 months.

Anyone who owns a land/house in xamar should cash it now, the price has reached an unsustainable level. I have been telling all my friends to sale their houses and wait on in the site line until it corrects it self.

Daadi,

So where can you park say $400,000 that you receive from selling land/property ? I don't trust Dahabshiil after they got hacked.

I agree its worth selling if you can. I am looking at expanding holdings in Garasbale & Dayniile to build vacation homes.

My grandfather owned a number of large properties which was held for him by relatives since the civil war began.

He also owned similar properties in the Holy City of Kismaayo.

I'm pretty much his principal heir = sell sell sell

This was happening since last year and it is because of the pirate money ...Pirates are buying most of #4 area..The Turkish projects is also another factor. I hope President Hasson will succeed in bringing Mogadisho all those UN offices in Kenya, then we will be really booming..

Never sell a property..never..

How would one acquire properties in Xamar or does my particular clan affiliation preclude the ability to possess wealth and/or real estate without resorting to nefarious means?
