They're not "knock-offs". A lot of names are Arabic, not Somali at all. Some want their children to have names that deal with submission to Allah. So Abdikareem, Abdirahman, and similar names are completely Arabic and are Islamic. But it's not a requirement to give your children such names. I think any name is good as long as it is no sacrilegious or insulting. Some Somali names are Haybi, Ubax, Raxo, and Shirdon. Correct me if I'm wrong, but those names are completely Somali. Unfortunately, too many parents favour Arabic names like Yasmin (similar meaning to Ubax), Aziza, and other names and a lot of the time, they don't even know what it means. They act as though those names are somehow superior to Somali names just because they are Arabic when that makes no sense whatsoever.

But 'Abidrahman' is ripped out from 'Abdurahman'.

AbduRahman is simply a slight Somali mispronunciation of AbdiRahman.

A knock-off is: "a copy that sells for less than the original; broadly : a copy or imitation of someone or something popular".

Since it is entirely Arabic and is distinct from the culture of Somalia, it is not a "knock-off" or an imitation of the Arabic name, it is completely Arabic and used for its meaning in Arabic, not for its popularity.

Abdu kareem is more like a 2 names. many people have 2 names like ahmed fathi, mohamed selim etc. Abdu means "his slave" in arabic meaning refering slave to allah swt.
Abd Al Karim is the slave of the most kindess which is only allah swt.
Its only haram to name your kids Any of allah swt other names Like latif,Karim,halim etc and Add the AL TO IT to make it al latif al hakim al halim al karim etc as these names are only refered and reserved to allah swt.
