Actually that is not true. They were saluting Col Warfaa and Col Cabaas after the Nairobi conference where Ras Kamboni was told these were indeed government troops and KDF would treat them as such. Both Cabaas and Warfaa then flew back to Ceel-Waaq to hold the 6 base commandship they hold.

Before they left, Col Cabaas spoke to the troops who becam legitimate and in control of Kismaayo airport security. Ras Kamboni which accused thm of being Shabaab and all these things to get Kenya to fight them had to swallow a bitter pill.
