The reason is oromos and somalis being very different genetically...they rarely reproduce together.
Their children, if they have any, are sterile.

Lool Weirdest myth ever. I've heard of that coupling, although they are rare. For some reason, I've heard of more Somali/Eritrean couplings than Somali/Oromo. You would think that Somalis and Oromos might marry sometimes in the Ogaden area. Also, every single Oromo I've met looked like a Somali.
Where did Eretreans and Somalis met? We don't even have borders like Oromo and Somali.
Sterile Kulahaa

I've heard of those marriages happening in the West.
@Xinow: I would guess that the children would identify with Somali culture more than Oromo then since kids usually are more influenced by their mother's culture than their father's.

Somalis and Oromos do not have much differences in Culture and appearance anyway. Caruurta would be half somalis, half Oromos.

Many Oromo speak somali because many of them were incorporated into Somalia by Siyaad Barre(aun), by the way they are the Muslim Oromo not the Gaalo ones. I honestly do not look down on intermarriage with the Oromo, what is the difference between marrying Ogaden or Oromo ? I see none walahi, they are our brothers and sisters, I personally would not mind marrying a fine looking Oromo qalanjo.

there are Muslim Oromo in their tenth of thousands who speak fluent Somali, who were raised as Somali, I am referring to them in particular, unfortunately people from Somalia stigmatize anyone remotely associated with Ethiopia, this includes even our Ogaden people.

Dude those are old days i have lived in ethiopia , there are more oromos who speak afar than that there are Somalis. even the hararghe oromos cant speak Somali.
By the way Ogaden are just Somalis, i have never seen a Somali discriminating against Ogadens ogaden is a Somali clan stop associating them with oromos or ethiopia when it comes to interaction i dont know some one calling Ogaden an ethiopian, unless he is just taking the piss, u comparing oranges to apples.

What's the reason of this topic? It's already been discussed.
We have evolving people who intermix with others which is great and others who are still in the stone ages.
Khalas, about ethnic or tribal discussions, talk about meaningful topics, not this nonsense.
