Yohannes,

Man, you have a good taste. I do like all the movies you mentioned even though I do think Yusuf Shaheen was bit nuts.

Doaa Al-Karawan is one of my all time favorites, I loved Ahmed Mazhar's acting...my Allah have mercy on his soul.

Welcome to the forum, its always great running into someone who knows Arabic on these boards.
Hey thanks for the warm welcome. He was certainly not the norm and I think that was part of why his movies were so great.

Oh sorry, I didn't see your location there. I have not seen any new Egyptian or Arabic films so I don't know how the state of Arab cinema is with a bunch of the giants dead.

The Ethiopian film scene has some gems if you understand Amharic, like Aster which is an award winning love film, Adwa which is about the famous battle in the late 1800s when Ethiopian military forces defeated the Italians, and Ashenge which is about the Italian invasion in WWII.

Khalid Al-Nabawy was Yusuf Shaheen's protégé and Khalid's acting is great. The last movie I saw for him was titled The Dealer along with Ashraf Al-Saqa another good actor.

There is another good actor called Khalid Al-Sawy and I liked how he acted in the film called the Adrenaline

All of Karim Abdilaziz's movies I like them.

Khalid Abu Al-Naga and Khalid Salih...Ahmed Helmy, Ahmed Ezz, Amr Waked and Fathi Abdelwahab are also good.

I do not know Amharic but if you post a good movie with English subtitles, I will watch it.

The Dealer looks good I'm going to check it out. I haven't seen Ethio movies with English subtitles but they're bound to exist, there is a small but thriving cottage film industry in the USA for Ethiopian films. You can find these films at international film theatres especially in areas like DC with large Ethiopian communities. One new Ethio film I am planning to see soon is Sost Maezen or Triangle in English about migrants to America.

Yesterday I hit the jackbot in the Discount DVD Bin at Best Buy.

So far the best movie I have seen this week. The characters were amazing, and the story was superb. 8/10

I once saw a martial arts action/thriller Amharic film on Youtube. It was the trippiest thing I've seen but I couldn't understand the language. :(

Looks good. Btw, why not download the movie instead of buying it?

Reminded me of this trailer for this trippy Hong Kong martial arts movie, it's insane (and great).
