we all wish the best to the average decent syrian citizen, put as you pointed out they are hopeless and have no military wing that champions their true demands which are ultimately peace and justice, which leaves me no option but to see asad as the lesser of the two evils.

The thing about the salafi extremists is, that the ones who actually encourage and arm them (US) know that the monster they created will bite back, it's a classic case simmilarly when the british had Sharif Hussein and Abdul Aziz, and they ended up making them fight each other favouring Abdul aziz over sharif hussein because he was more loyal, they want loyality from their military-aided militias.
