For sure Kenya created proxy for them selves....May be those Jubaland admin aren't aware kenyan's goal. it seems somalia is facing new era. The last couple years, a huge problem has awoken in the name of Kenya. Our sea coast, the boundary dispute, the wikileaks release about Kenya oil interest, the attempt to make a coast guard with UN funds in our name to have jurisdiction over a long time in our coast, they control Kismaayo port and airport yet they do everything to prevent government influence including turning bsck planes and allowing charcoal export to proceed in defiance of UN embsrgo, etc etc etc.
Al Shabaab mudt liquidate itself so the Somali government can tell Kenya to leave immediately. The root of all evil in the future of Somalia will be the presence of Kenyan troops and Shabaab is the onkly reason thdy are legitimately there!
Now Shabaab cannot fight them and lost conventionally everywhere else....so what is a better strategy for Shabaab? Still stay somewhat structurally existent even in defeat and be the reason that Kenya hss a chance to rape Jubbaland or disintegrate what is left and provide the space to allow the Somaki government to tell Kenya they are no longer needed?
What if years from now, you're proven wrong, and al-Shabaab come back to win the war and gain near complete control of the country? FYI, al-Shabaab haven't engaged in conventional wars in the past few years. They've retreated from some areas they controlled. They haven't sustained heavy manpower losses. They still retain most of their arms and weapons. So, I don't get what you refer to them having lost the war. The`Republic wrote:I want to let them know they have lost the war and were never going to win it.
They have lost popular support, something they had in 2008-2009 when the Ethiopians were around and fled.misterioso wrote:What if years from now, you're proven wrong, and al-Shabaab come back to win the war and gain near complete control of the country? They didn't command better "popularity" back then. Resistance to the Ethiopians was fierce back then, primarily because then president was from a rival clan. If the president was from a local clan, various groups wouldn't have been involved in the resistance. Today's al-Shabaab aren't doing anything different from those in 2008-2009; they used to behead, cut limps, stone adulterers, etc as they do today. So, your point isn't valid.FAH1223 wrote:They have lost popular support, something they had in 2008-2009 when the Ethiopians were around and fled.
You're looking them from your understanding of Christianity. No such group ever claimed to speak for Allah. The phenomena of Christian clergy or intercession doesn't exist in Islam. This is just an indication that your understanding of Islam is poor.Basra- wrote:They may convince themselves that they speak for Allaah swt or the religion of Islam
