Executing POWs is not haram in Islam. Labelling an enemy combatant "civilian" is just a cheap propaganda trick.

In regards to the topic.
As much as I dislike the "Free Syrian Army", I thought
at the very least with Assad gone, Syria would finally
be free from Alawi rule and become Sunni ruled.
But the price to pay is too much with these extremists;
killing and maiming everywhere they go.

When a murtad and mushrik enemy is killed, they say it was a civilian, a good samaritan who followed the ways of mother theressa taking care of the orphan children, or he was a good mashallah brother doing all kinds of stuff.grandpakhalif wrote:Executing POWs is not haram in Islam. These people are very ignorant do they not know that when the Prophet SAW ransomed the mushrikeen POWs, Umar bin Khattab told rasullulah to chop off their necks but rasullulah followed the opinion of Abubakr to spare them, Allah revealed the ayah saying he would rather have them executed, But since ransom was permissible. here's the hadith and tafsir:
This was the suggestion of Allah and we should do the same today, execute the mushrikeen for verily they have no mercy on Sunni babies, women children.Prisoners of war constituted a problem awaiting resolution because it was a new phenomenon in the history of Islam. The Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam consulted Abu Bakr and 'Umar ibn al-Khattab as to what he should do with the prisoners. Abu Bakr suggested that he should ransom them, explaining this by saying: "They are after all our relatives, and this money would give us strength against the disbelievers, moreover, Allah could guide them to Islam." 'Umar advised killing them, saying, "They are the leaders of kufr (disbelief)." The Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam preferred Abu Bakr's suggestion to that of 'Umar's. The following day, 'Umar called on the Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam and Abu Bakr to see them weeping. He showed extreme astonishment and inquired about the situation so that he might weep if it was worth weeping for, or else he would feign weeping.
"It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war (and free them with ransom) until he had made a great slaughter (among his enemies) in the land. You desire the good of this world (i.e. the money of ransom for freeing the captives), but Allah desires (for you) the Hereafter. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. Were it not a previous ordainment from Allah, a severe torment would have touched you for what you took." [Al-Qur'an 8:67-68]

As much as I dislike these fsa nut-jobs, I fail to see the difference between shooting a man and cutting his head off with a few strokes. One is quicker, while the other saves you a bullet and terrifies your enemy at the same time - verdict; Beheading wins.
