LamaG when the doctor diagnoses you, they need to outline what the treatment is going to be and give you a long term prognosis. Adiga waad noo sheegtey, repeatedly, what our problems are. Waan ku barya start giving us solutions. This cay is getting a bit much for my "waan daadshey" dhiig

Come on niece! I have always sublime solutions to our decay. Sometimes, I am explicit. SOmetimes, I am implicit e.g. in this thread; those who read it will remember this the next time...

Basically dadka in aad ka xishoosiisid? Are you giving the link between ape and man a bit too much credit in assuming xishood in ey karan? :P

Btw I once had a conversation with someone from Northern Italy and she spoke of the Southern Italians with contempt. She's like they shout in the middle of the road and sometimes they've left the apartment and shout for the person still in the building to throw them something, they are loud yada yada yada and I was thinking I can see the similarity lol. This thread just reminded me

Speaking loud in public is not confined to Somalis only. Anyone who has ever been to Egypt, for example, would notice that Somalis are not the loudest people in the world. Xitaa Eurpeanka koonfurtu such as Italians are quite loud.

The ape-mankind nexus is how others view us. I have alot of non somali friends/acquintances who open their hearts/minds occasionally. I have also been to seminars where people have been asked to write their prejudices against immigrants. I have also been asked the question why somalis are loud.

So, empirical observations ala anecdotal evidence.

lol @ the missing link between humans and their apelike ancestors. Evolution theory would be complete when that link is found. Imagine all the people that will leave their faiths in droves. :?

We shouldn't entertain the explanations of racist people who still have the mentality of viewing another human being as primitive mere on the basis of differing behaviors and cultures.

As for why we are loud. There are countless reasons why Somalis are loud. However, I believe that humans are individuals well capable of making their own decisions and prevailing over environmental influences. Culture is more powerful than environmental factors when it comes to acceptable behaviors. The idealization of roughness is common in our culture, and speaking loud over each other is another form of not only dominating the conversation, but also controlling the direction the conversation takes. And it always helps to suppress the voices of those one disagrees with. Unfortunately, in reality there is no elegance in roughness and it only serves short-term goals and creates more conflicts. It also lacks grace and the understanding of soft power, which is more efficient when solving problems between two opposing groups with competing interests and a common future.

In all honesty, this behavior will disappear in less than a generation if all the young ones are properly educated and taught the existence of different forms of communication.

The cadaan kid looks at me confused and says aren't you gonna do something. I said no they just having a conversation. LamaG it is in our genes man, we can't get rid of that.

Walaahi, waa runtaa.

There was this bus driver who called the police thinking that the somali womene on his bus were fighting. They were doing the art of fadhi ku-dirir on the bus.

It is the nomad mentality saaxib. The geeljire was generally an isolated being and his interactions with others centred on shouting from distance to avoid enemies.

Or it is simply magaalo joog xumo. Mid doraato (xijaab weyn ayaay wadatay) oo aan tareen isla raacnay telefoon ayaay kula hadleeysay mid kale; ragga ayaay rifeeysay; nuuris iwm ayaay ka sheekeyneeysay.

Malaha bidaarta ayaa qaladday oo ay kuu moodday in aad nin gaboobay tahay. Ma oga in aad shampoo expire ah ku qubeysatay oo ay sidaa tinta kaaga daadatay.

Afka caano geel lagu qabay. I was just about to mention that Lamagoodle is very descriptive but never prescriptive. Usually writes long posts about Somalis with anecdotal experiences (in this case, totally obscure) and then expects an engaging discussion

How long will you continue calling us a missing link between apes and humans? I for one dont believe in evolution bro.

Lilaahiya,
At least I identify some of the problems we face and describe them. You are on the other hand in a "feel good" mode.

If you can't put up with my long description , then shut up

A challenge; give us a prescriptive analysis. we are waiting.

Meta; depends on what one means by evolution. Many people use it as a metaphor. As regards, the ape-manking reference in the begining of this thread, I refer you to the explanation I gave to BB.

LamaG I cant help but think that you dread being a somali. Unless every piece of yours is a satire. Being loud isnt exclusive to Somalis by the way.

True, loudness is not exclusive to somalis; but I am only concerned with somalis because I am one.

Meta, I am not self-hating but self-critical

Identifying the problems isn't synonymous with making blanket statements and suggesting we haven't "evolved" from our "primitive" state.

Resorting to playground tactics (oh yeah, well let's see you do it!) are we now  I may not have a solution but I won't waste my time and others with posting lengthy rambles that are full of disdain.[/quote]
