Alshabaab can easily narrow the gap when they start thinking with their brains. When they realise they don't have the funds, resources, support or the brains to launch an offensive against armies much more disciplined and better equipped. When they realise they are supposed to be fighting 'for' the somalis not against them.

At one point, they won't be at a disadvantage technologically/militarily. We don't know what they're doing or can do to adapt, and this topic is trying to explore that.samatar133 wrote:I assume you are joking!!

I saw a TV interview with so-called experts about two years ago. They said without external interference, Egypt can destroy Ethiopian army and occupy the country within 48 - 72 hours but they don't have the ability to sustain occupation.
I dnt know if it is true but I heard from Muslim circles that Ethiopia was blessed by Prophet Mohamed and will never be conquered by another country.

Superstition.waryaa wrote:I dnt know if it is true but I heard from Muslim circles that Ethiopia was blessed by Prophet Mohamed and will never be conquered by another country.
But in that case, when we talk about Ethiopia, what do we mean, proper Ethiopia confined to the Shoa region, the Amhara-Tigray lands or the empire that exists today?

The Ethiopians are always mentioned in Religious scriptures I wonder why that is. I remember reading the hadith below and wondering how drastically different the world would become for an Ethiopian to take over the Ka'ba.
It was reported from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Leave the Ahbash (Abyssinians or Ethiopians) alone so long as they do not disturb you, for no one will recover the treasure of the Ka'ba, except Zul-Suwayqatayn from Abyssinia." (Abu Dawud)

Didn't Ahmed Gurey conquer Ethiopia, at least for a number of years?waryaa wrote:I dnt know if it is true but I heard from Muslim circles that Ethiopia was blessed by Prophet Mohamed and will never be conquered by another country.

elf, you can do some research on this man: Aṣḥama ibn Abjar - Abyssinian Christian king who finally embraced Islam. One theory says Prophet Mohamed SAW performed Salatul Janaza for him. That was the first time this Salat was performed for someone who died in a faraway place. Another theory says one of the early Muslims who emigrated from Arabia to Abyssinia embraced Christianity and his wife left him. Then this king represented the Prophet and paid a lot of gold to her family when the Prophet married her. I dnt know how authentic this is but I heard it through word of mouth.
Re: Snet Military Analysts, soo yara gala
kafka, Muslim Ulumas say that the prophet did actually blessed that country. It is also true that it did a great service for Islam. Can you share with us how u reached this superstition conclusion?

How can an Abbysinian invade his own country?waryaa wrote:misterioso, wasn't Ahmed from Abbysinia too? I said outside forces.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahmad_ibn_Ibrihim_al-GhaziAhmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi (Somali: Axmad bin Ibrahim al-Ghazi, Arabic: أحمد بن إبراهيم الغازي ) "the Conqueror" (c. 1507 – February 21, 1543) was an Imam and General of Adal who invaded Ethiopia and defeated several Ethiopian emperors. With the help of an army mainly composed of Somalis, Imam Ahmad (nicknamed Gurey in Somali and Gragn in Amharic (ግራኝ Graññ), both meaning "the left-handed"), embarked on a conquest which brought three-quarters of Ethiopia under the power of the Muslim Sultanate of Adal during the Ethiopian-Adal War from 1529-43.

All you said is true and authentic. I ended up researching Ashama after I met some Ethiopian guy with the same name. He told me the same thing you're saying, so I had to do some research to see if what he was saying was true. Oddly enough, some Ethiopians know about this.

Of course, you've your own personal view, that he was Ethiopian. However, millions (including Ethiopians, Somalis) do not share your view.waryaa wrote:misterioso, Ahmed Gurey was not a foreign invader, at least to to my knowledge.

Ethiopia was indeed blessed, thats why the Highlands and Addis Ababa have constant rains and rarely go through drought. This doesn't sanction their political actions though, just the land.
