The only place where there might be significant french are in flanderen.
khalid ali you so dumb that you think when the spanish ruled nederland they could sigifcly alter the demographics...lord have mercy
nederland is a geopolitical creation its not a natural "ummad", they became that through nation building but historically that was never the case.
Didn`t they teach you this shit in school
ethnography for you
Northern french and southern nederland and south western germany= Franks
They are technically the same people divided by states and linguisticall yby the level of foreign loan words that was aquired through the centuries from Romance languages
Ethnically there is 0 difference between Germans and dutch in terms of genetic make-up but linguistically, there is variations and that variation is not that big, its the same among recent branches of the Germanic languages

Re: German and dutch are the same people
First can you bring your argument while not insulting or else there is no point discussing such matters
Vlaanderen is in Belgium not the Netherlands there is a high frequancey of roman ancestry , you think the dutch ancestry was formed in mi devil times
, i am talking about centuries ago not recent i am talking centuries ago , you are forgetting the roman empire ruled the Netherlands for close to 500 years , the Romans would settle near the Rijn than for a short period of time the Frank identity followed, and they would wage a war against the Romans. By the way German language and Dutch language is nothing close they are very different even grammatically. You are making it sound that German and Dutch Language is very close or identical no my friend. There are many In the Netherlands who are of German ancestry but not all many of Scandinavian and others roman. Not all belong to the Germanic tribes only certain regions particularly east of the Netherlands. Even that said and there is some similarities. Dutch People do not like Germans , they look down on them

austrians don`t like germans and bavarians don`t like prussians that doens`t say muchIn linguistics, Old Dutch (or Old Low Franconian[1]) denotes the Franconian (or Frankish) dialects spoken in the Low Countries during the Early Middle Ages from around the 5th to the 12th century. It is regarded as the primary stage in the development of a separate Dutch language. By the end of the 9th century the Franconian (or Frankish) dialects spoken by the descendants of the Salian Franks had developed into what is recognisable today as an early form of Dutch, but that might also have been the case earlier.[2] Old Dutch in turn evolved into Middle Dutch around the 12th century.
Old Dutch was spoken by the populace which erstwhile occupied present-day Netherlands, northern Belgium, parts of northern France, and the Lower Rhine and Westphalia regions of Germany. The inhabitants of present-day Dutch provinces—including Groningen, Friesland and the coast of North Holland—spoke Old Frisian, while those of the east (Achterhoek, Overijssel and Drenthe) exercised Old Saxon.

Re: German and dutch are the same people
Old dutch no longer exist no one speak it any more Austrians they speak German their ethnicity is German. The Dutch is different By the way the old dutch wasn't much different than the one they speak here and there some of the old Dutch but its mostly the way you spell it and spell some words
Some who speaks fluent German cannot understand Dutch he can understand some words and maybe some part of a sentence but he cant understand the language
