2. Mistake #2: Assuming initial popularity after selection to mean that he has a mandate. Abdiqassim goes to Xamar instead of Baydhaba and sees large crowds welcoming him and he assumes he has the mandate to push his agenda without compromising with the factional leaders. He refuses suggestions to buy them off so that they become incorporated into the government. He instead fills his government with his cronies and friends from the MSB government. It becomes a YES man cabinet without any balance from the opposition. As time passes, the warlords gain support from the public whose mood changes against Abdiqassim. Hassan Sheik is popularly elected and feels he has a mandate & stacks the government with his cronies. He chooses a PM who is buddy and enjoys no popular support. Every key position is given to DamJadiid leading to the perception that he is a micromanager who doesn't want diverse opinions and balance.
3. Mistake #3: Selecting a Prime Minister who is an unknown quantity with a limited base of support - Abdiqassim selected Ali Khalif Galeyr a man who could not even go to his home region. He chose a man who came from the same Ex-MSB club as himself instead of selecting a Jabhadi candidate like Abdullahi Yusuf or even Shaatigaduud. This irked the AntiMSB league. He then selected Hassan Abshir, another Ex-MSB club member who later on went to challenge and undermine him. Hassan Sheik selects Saacid, an unknown quantity with limited support among the Darood. To make things worse, he overshadows him and leads to the very public perception that Saacid is merely a token PM with no real authority. He even goes to the extraordinary level of not allowing Saacid to make international trips on behalf of the government. A good PM is one who complements you where you are weak and brings a base of support. He has to be distinct from you even a member of the opposition to show that your government represents all Somalis not the ones who think like you.
Sahal, adeer, Hassan Sheik has made several key mistakes. The biggest of which is assuming that he could have total control over the government by filling it with his Damujadiid and selecting a weak PM.

From the beginning I`ve said Hassan Sheikh is Abdulqasim mark II.
The IC are fed up with his terrorist appeasement and petty tribalism.
He will soon be deposed.

↑↑'this is the best analysis I have read on the current president.... if one compares the feeling we had of the this government in its infant days and the perspective a lot of people have now are simply worlds apart.
A stark reminder of the trust the international bodies have placed in him initially, was the fact that puntland has been told to sit the **** down in regards of the overseas delegations. Japan london turkey ethiopia kenya and countless others puntland was excluded, hence we somalia officially stepped out of the transitional period..
