Old Kismayo: Bajun, Jareer, Gaaljecel, Sheikhal with Ogaden in Afmadow over 100km into the interior. A few Harti settlers were in the city.
New Kismayo: Marexan & Kablaxax who settled there heavily after 1991.

Whomever is living there today will be given their rights.
That is the main difference between us and the moryaan.
Since 1991 the demographics of the south has changed forever.
There is no point in talking about pre 1991.

Enlighten, would it help if I brought two intelligence reports from the two American embassies in the region (Nairobi and Addis Ababa) in two different classified reports in two different times exposed by Wikileaks?

¶5. (SBU) Kismayo has been the locus of a long-standing conflict between the region's Darood sub-clans. The city has changed hands several times in the recent past and some have estimated that it has been controlled by 30 different regimes (mostly clan-based) since ¶1991. The Darood/Ogadeni, last week's winners, have a power base outside Kismayo, and are unlikely to be welcome for the long term by Kismayo's citizenry, the majority of whom are Darood/Marehan. .Our contacts question how long this Kismayo coalition of convenience between local clans, ICU remnants, and al-Shabaab can hold together, given the city's past, its clan makeup, and likelihood of disagreements over sharing power and port revenues.

Re: Who make up the majority in
Marehan is to this day, if you separate everything else, the onlh "clan" to hold Kismaayo in the name of clan when Ethiopia moved out after ICU and Abdullahi Yusuf's administration was chased. The Sultan of Mareha and the Marehan elders held Kismaayo in the name or clan for two years until Al Shabaab moved in. No other major city in Somalia throughout expanse of civil war has been held in name of clan, it was always in name of urur (organization).
It was an elder's admin

That in itself shows who hss the numbers and power to do such a thing. No other clan can do something along those lines and as soon as Kenya is removed that is the fate that awaits unless a just political solution is achieved.

Re: Who make up the majority in
We get the point you're trying to make is that the majority of the residents are from your tribe, but I think it's key to notice the non-hilighted-in-red parts as well; that the city has changed hands a lot and "has been controlled by 30 different regimes (mostly clan-based) since 1991". It is likely at the time this was written this was the case (that your Marehan clan was the majority of the populace) and that it still is, since it's from 2008.
In civilized societies, this sort of thing is easily solved with a census and election, whether direct (possible in a relatively small population like Kismayo) or representative with elders or what-have-you.
But this is Somalia so we can't have that can we.

Marehans are the majority? bad news, wish it has stayed how it was pre91, peace and tranquility would have been guaranteed. Why are Ogadens fighting for dominance over Kismaayo? Are they no2?
