Great advice. Still though, hard to change a culture of an existing environment. Dude is used to being a free loader. I'd start looking for alternative flat-mates.

say this to him: "waar qashinkaaga naga hagaaji miyaadan nin weyn ahayn," this will normally work but if you want to really get it into his head, then add "...Hadiikale wallaahay weynu isgeli". Trust me, its a tried and tested formula which works everytime.
