Dear Majlis Al-Shura Members,

I've a personal question and I hope the Majlis enlighten me on this serious matter. A close family of mine works as a manager in a Bank. He prays his five Salats and I must say he's extremely very good person. I've confronted him about his occupation and advised him to leave his work. I even suggested his prayers are in question, but he violently defended his work. What does the Majlis think about this matter?

The Majlis will deliberate but surely you will have a great chance considering your favourable qualities.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmutallhi wa barakat,

We welcome your question and are glad you put it foward, according to my limited knowledge the Prophet SAWS used to say whoever works with Riba signs the contract for it, eats it and is part of the proccess shares the sin of interest. So we suggest this brother to try to find a new job while he is in his job, and leave as he is able. If he fears poverty know that is a trick and ploy of Satan to continue his sinning, Allah will find him sustenance he never imagined if he leaves this haram job. Riba is a major sin and he shouldn't continue working within that system if he fears Allah and the last day jzk,.

Here is his argument and if you think about it, he has a point. He's saying he's no different than all other Muslims who work for the Kuffar government including Postal Service, Apple, Best Buy etc since these fortune companies all Bank at Major Banks and the paycheck gets printed from the Bank. Now what he's saying is he gets paid on salary based and his check gets printed from the same bank as other guys. So the question is : Are the Majlis Sura on Itifaq on this or there is second opinion

He has a good point but there's hadith where the Prophet said, there will come a time when even the dust of Riba will fall upon your heads, so he's right those other people are getting it, but he is in the belly of the beast the strongholds of riba themselves, so it is much more danger for him...
