Classical example of ‘colonization of the mind’. This is one of major effect of Globalization, as we share ideology and notions of thoughts are swapped, the western ideology is imprinted in our stream of thought.
We have to conform to the domain consciousness, but this is a common feature of humanity, we have period where there is a strong influence of 1 ideology.
And don’t forget we are living in a consumerist capital society, if ‘fairness’ sells make it a society norm and shun what doesn’t sell.
Social conscious is control…mentality goes generations back there is no way to escape…
Lighter skin is ‘beauty’ psychology imprinted…nothing to do with racism just that the role model is the domain culture and the more power…
Racism---Pride or Prejudice?

Thanks mate, I concur with you that whites see tanning as a fashionable thing, while we (Asians and Africans) see it as kind of a deformed person. This remind me of Dave Shapelle shows. I found his shows to be very funny. Especially his sketch about where a white supremacist author who turns out to be a black guy (Dave Chapelle) and lived an isolated life in a blind community where he was raised to think that he was white (and everyone else also thinks he's white-all are blind). By the end of the show Chapelle finds out that he's black after he takes off his hood & cape at a white supremacist rally (the head of one of his acolytes explodes in shock). The narrator explains at the end that he is now "...learning how to deal with his blackness, and has divorced his wife of 19 years." The reason? The narrator relates that Chapelle's character told them, "She was a nigger lover".
The beat goes on. Yes, we are from Venus.

[mohawk-quote]In my view, non-white people are more prejudiced and racist, with their little skin colour differences (such as Somali's Vs other Africans), than the white people. And unlike us, other "coloured" people don't want to talk about this issue in the open[/quote]
i agree with what u'r saying there. i mean, i haven't experienced any real rasicm from white ppl, but i did find that there was some serious tension between the other ethnic groups in my old school.
this is probably cus the cadan were a minority in my area.
about somali women using those creams to make themselves lighter, i just came back from hargeisa this summer and that sh.it sells like bread out there.
