Are you mix of somal/Oromoo?
I only know a little bit of af-Maxaa
Are you aware there are no such thing as habash, 80% of amhara are not blood lineage but state of mind. some are oromo while others are agaw or gurage.
As for tigray/Tigrinya( habash) follow them, they have the most weirdest lineage.

What about afaan oromo?

No, there is no such thing as Amhara, Habash on the other hand is an actual thing, and Tigray and Tigrinya have long abtirsi, for instance Negus Meroni from Hamasien has a lot of descendants today he probably lived around 1400 or so.OjOO wrote:James Dahl wrote:I have actually explored these, I just don't know much about them. Re: James Dahl
Are you aware though most when asked and dig deep, they will tell you their either saho, or afar etc.
other thing is 1400 if you move to habash village and convert to their faith you become one of them. that is the case of seraya, and to some extand to hammesien.
Most are not lineages but location.
Now days some will tell you Beja and seraya are related.

For the most part yes, though you would be surprized.
Also you forget the biggest groups who have been Habeshized, Falashas and Agaws

Re: James Dahl
James any resources on ancient somali scripts/alphabet? Other than some vague reference in a book about the founding of the modern somali Latin script, I can't seem to find anything.

Re: James Dahl
I don't know about ancient, the oldest script known to write the Somali language was a modified Arabic alphabet, then Cismaaniya in the 19th century. If there was anything older I don't know about it.abdi.ismail wrote:James any resources on ancient somali scripts/alphabet? Re: James Dahl
James do me a favor and remove Surre abtirsi from your site, it suits no purpose, besides there's tons of gaps in your listing.
