As I've said before, these examples are part of a miniscule group. The reality shows that most are either failures who aren't in uni and the others are simply wasting their time and tax payers money on scholarships considering they come from welfare-guzzling families. There's a reason why we're the only Somali family in Brentwood, maybe even in all of Essex for that matter. The reality is completely different then what people say on Snet.

I've only seen a handful of Somali doctors. Where are the intellectuals? Don't tell me about some qabiil historian that is called professor or doctor by his mates and family.

Bro Somali engineers are quite common. I know a fair amount of them, including my older brother who has got a masters in civil engineering. As for doctors..

let's just say I know many 'ditoores' and 'professors'.

Somali engineers are not common. It is a fake title they use. 95% of Somalis who claim to be engineers are not.
It has become a fashion statement for many Somali men, especially the politicians.
You have VCR repairmen and computer technicians calling themselves engineers.
The Engineer title has taken over the "professor" and "doctor" title older Somali men use. They can't use them anymore because people realized they bullshitting

I have actually been hearing otherwise. Things are looking different. Apart from more Somali females at university then males. I see more Somalis going on Health and Sciences, Engineering, Teaching, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Architecture, Politics, Law, Economics, Finance etc.
Besides those 'meaningless degrees' can still be meaningful depending what route they take after graduation. Will they do their masters? Will they do work experience? Will they do voluntarily work? will they do PHD? etc
Education all the way

No matter what subject

I'm not boasting. University is not an accomplishment to my family. I would be disowned if I didn't get accepted to uni. I'm not near the most successful person in my family. My father and both of my maternal uncles who are engineers went to better universities. One of the worst days in my life was when I couldn't follow in my father's footsteps and go to UCL.

I never said that bruh. Just don't try to make it seem like it's something common. Failure is practically accepted among Somalis, that's not a myth, that's a fact. Somalis wouldn't be in this situation if it was. We can't feign pride when we're at the bottom mate.

If you really want to be a doctor it cost $17k in Somalia for 7 years and the you can make $50k yr there if you try hard. A fortune over there.
Alternatively you can study medicine in China for $7k for 6 years (family do it) and then move to Europe, USA etc and make $100s thousands a year.
There a solution to useless degrees.

Apparently Sheikh Ahmed sheikh Shariff has a new title going around the Somali newsphere, dude calling himself Dr ever since he attended a correspondence program in Boston...
Btw, the Sheikh title is also over abused within the Somalis

PHD masters etc don't money i know a lad from St.Andrew uni and Cambridge who both work in Starbucks and Costa coffee for the last year. This is not a blip but a trend.
I respect the self employed. Even plumbers can make $100k in London when/if they try hard. Somali parents don't like that tho thats unless they see it with their eyes lol.
