Addis ababa had a civil war in the capital - Its still standing intact.
We need reconciliation right now, then we can work together again and that includes the eydoors too.
Leave barre alone 1 year of his presidency amounted to more than 25 years of Koonfur chaos. TELL ME I'M LYING.

Re: Rare video clip of Mogadishu
The golden years of Somali history, nice song too, I don't blame anyone, I blame the location of the capital, had the capital been a better a place like Berbera, Bosaaso or Kismaayo, things would have turned out different. Perhaps we would continue to be under a military autocratic regime of some sort, but at least we would have had steady economic growth and development to the stage where every Somali would be well off and not care for political injustice, many countries similar type of systems and manage to do fine, just look at china, maybe our generations with the help of social media could have changed things and soften up the regime to be more democratic.
they look like civil engineers doing field surveys.kambuli wrote:Nice song...Who were those people dressed in white?

Isaaq,Majeerteen & Hawiye savages destroyed it. Minority clans had nothing to do with Somalia's destruction. If only Siyad Barre was a good & just leader and if only he rolled out in his 20 years in power extensive education programs across the country in every town, village and hamlet we would have had a country now. Educated people do not trash their country.
Siyaad Barre is to blame for unleashing these savages on us.

The only mistake MSB made was his reluctance to utterly decimate the enemies of the Somali people who, for a pittance, sold the birthright of their children's children at the behest of foreign powers.

22 years of absolute anarchy and societal devolution have shown that MSB's Somalia was infinitely preferable to the pitiful state we find ourselves in today. USC, SSDF, SNM, and all the other Ethiopian backed acronyms promised us a vision of a peaceful, democratic, and prosperous post-Siad Somalia.

We all know the civil war was brutal. it just didn't came by one night or day. he put fire into ppl's Hearts for many years and finally it burned him and his ppl.. and that fire is still there.
MSB is the man to blame... just like Qabil WHO was the first man to kill a person shares every sin with a killer.
the video was from 1973and somalia was pretty much well builded from the early 60s..

From 69-77 (Soviet-backed) maybe but from 78-91 the country was already finished.Based wrote:History vindicates us my friend.Kabriid wrote:Afweyne was a complete failure.Based wrote:

He sowed discord among brothers and that's the greatest destruction our people ever faced. To this day Somalis don't trust each other because of that man and his actions. Not to forget how he tried to recapture Mogadishu instead of leaving peacefully like Mengistu.

Re: Rare video clip of Mogadishu
@Casanova, did you literally just ignore everything else I wrote? Aideed et al. were Ethiopia's response to Zenawi and Afwerki, yet the latter two managed to not destroy their respective countries following their overthrow of a dictator who killed one million people and watched while another million starved to death. While in our case, the "United" Somali Congress literally fragmented a few weeks following their disastrous coup and subsequently cannibalized each other for roughly a decade and a half, the Somali "National" Movement ironically seceded from Somalia, and the Somali "Salvation" Democratic Front's leader decided to invite Ethiopia to invade Somalia. The irony sometimes makes me wonder if God is having a laugh.
@Kabriid, before the October Revolution, there were dozens of clan based political parties mired in corruption, bribery, and other unsavoury acts all in a bid to take power at the expense of rival clans, which happened to actually bolster the nascent Revolution. I find it difficult to agree with your bizarre assertion that clan rivalry began in 1978, nor can I agree with your claim that one man or government had the ability to "sow discord" amongst a people well known for age old blood feuds and a previous inability to unite under central rule.
However, let us not digress from the main point; Why exactly was Somalia different from the dozens of other regime changes that occurred during the end of the Cold War? Why were Somalia's rebels unable to fill the vacuum of power post-coup unlike every single other successful rebel group in the entirety of human civilization? Why were dictators far more brutal than MSB (see above) removed from power without the anarchic violence now forever associated with Somalia? Why call for MSB to step down, only to overthrow him and usher in a hitherto unseen level of lawlessness?
This is what you and your ilk have created. We would have gladly taken another ten decades of MSB's benevolent rule, but apparently you wouldn't yet didn't have any alternatives other than creating a hell on earth.
