I would like to just say one thing. The weakness I noticed about Somali's compared to other peoples is that they are very "open". Why are we Somali's only being targeted when neighbouring Kenya and other states are by far more corrupt? So excuse me for sensing this conspiracy.

So how are we supposed to evolve in just one year when we've never had a government for twenty years. As a Somali I am proud to say that my country is not as corrupt as neighboring states. Our government is committed towards combating corruption, that is why soldiers and police officers who are found guilty of corruption are put to sentence. But the vast number of our troops and police forces are trustworthy, dedicated, hardworking, loyal and committed towards protecting the Somali nation against terrorist attacks from Al-shabab.

Besides Somalia is a sovereign nation so our leaders, institutions, military and police forces will ONLY be accountable to the Somali people.

Marqaati is not an anti-government organization, the founder is a strong supporter of the president. It is an anti-corruption organization, the point is to strengthen the government by exposing the bad apples.

If the government was just all bad, there would be no point to an anti-corruption organization. The new government has weak institutions and con artists and swindlers thrive in chaos. Exposing criminals who are letting suicide bombers into secure areas with a few bribes, or exposing military commanders who are selling military hardware on the black market to the very people trying to destroy the government isn't being against the government.

My life is an open book, I have never hidden who I am or what I think or do or believe. You can say what you will about me, and make up lies to attack me, but that is your business, not mine. Far from being paid, I donate my own time and money for my hobbies. I don't expect to be paid or awarded for Marqaati, on the contrary I expect that I will be investigated by my own country, and possibly harassed IRL. I support Marqaati because it's the right thing to do.

I have done comparatively little in terms of my research, nothing I have done could not have been done much faster and better by a Somali man with a car, a hundred dollars worth of Qaat, and a week to drive around Somalia. It's just that Somalia is a topic so under-studied and under-appreciated that a single Canadian man in his spare time after work has done more than in the last 50 years or so, when the last colonial era, racially charged European anthropologists did their research. That is not a boast on my part, it is just a sad fact that I wish were not true. Where are the Somali historians? Where are the Somali scholars, gathered around dusty religious texts? Where are the Somali archaeologists unearthing their history in Zeila or Malao or Sarapion?

I am not some invasive spy or genius, I just bothered to care, something apparently noone else has done. If I am truly alone in my curiosity about Somalias thousand year old civilization, then that is a tragedy.
