Wiilka ha bah dilina. If this is what you want and what you're interested in, it's great. Go for it

"Chemistry" won't get you a job. Not without years of experience - or - professional training. Management? Please, don't misinform the kid. It's people like you that have 17yos getting into fields/programs that require a decade of experience to get hired in. You should stop giving advice.

Science is the way to go, yes, but "chemistry" won't get you a job. You want to get into professional studies, but again, that should be a concern toward the end of your secondary school years.
petroleum, plastics, clothing, pharmaceuticals , toiletries, water purification, fuels, researching new types of eco-friendly fuels, and much more

Chemistry wont get you a job.
Listen, science is good. Science is all that you need. The least you can do is consider chemical engineering. I would suggest you look into polytechnics, but it seems like the UK has done away with those. That's a damn shame, and I'm afraid the same might happen here. Anyway, like I said, focus on your classes now, worry about university programs once you have all your 80s.

i dont want chemical engineering. it needs physics. something i dont like and im crap at it.

and btw, you have to get experience somehow. not every job needs 3+ years of experience. even teaching it can be a start for me.

Eh, honestly, if you attend a top 10 university and network properly, you'll be fine.

Alpha, management roles through graduate entry programmes. 3 years of training and you're in a leadership position. It's not unheard of.

You need experience with everything but a degree in Chemistry is not a liability, at least not in the UK.

Jaz,

No degree is a liability. That's beside the point being made. There are better paths to take than an ambiguous 4 year attempt at a solely academic education that will more than likely result in little more than a substitution job at the high school level, given he takes teaching courses. And yet you're telling him to take another 3 year masters program just for the hopes of an entry level management position. Smh. Terrible advice.

Let's be real, the vast majority of students either don't know how or don't care to attempt networking, "a top 10 university" is only as good as the sociopathic personality graduating, and the gamble of a shitty degree is simply not worth it, regardless whichever school you graduate from.

Depending on the school, networking is as easy as emailing someone, stating, "You're an alum. You have a job that I want. Help."
But I guess, it also depends on the success rate of alumni plus how connected the school's community is. The old boys network is real. Honestly, you're more likely to get a job through networking than you are attempting to break into the field on your own. My school sends history majors to Wall Street.

Yes entry level managerial roles and later progress to the board of directors if he plays his cards right. Tell me though, if a degree in Chemistry is so shitty, what degree is better?

I think it's unfair to talk someone out of something they feel passionate about or like to study just because you think they will be worse off in the job market because I am telling you now, in the UK, it won't make them worse off. If you get an A or a B (1st or a 2.1 in UK lingo), and you had good A-Levels AAA/AAB you are pretty much guaranteed a graduate job regardless of what exactly your degree subject is. It's more about how you got involved while at uni, the societies whose committees you were on etc etc. Subject matter means squat in the business world.

Now if you are advising him from the perspective of the scientific community then that's another thing all together. But even then like I said, plenty of research and development roles available.

You choose your path in life, all you need is the drive and ambition (and good grades). The kid knows what he wants, give him a pat on the back.

No I don't. I give the best advice, I even provide evidence and links. You're just a negative person.
