Theres a train line that was built by the early colonist Italian Duke between Xamar and Jowhar to export his fruit. I think this was about 130km.
Actually in the late 80s the regime wanted to restart the lines and stations (About 10 in the south) however the hawiye war started.

I think Trains are a viable option in Somalia but we should start small scale. However i'm sure we'll see a network in the next decades.
