Re: Suicide and the hellfire
By going against one of Gods characteristics you're committing shirk and in Islam shirk is unforgivable and the one who commits these deeds will be in hellfire forever.

Let's all be very careful about what we say because we are not scholars. Don't let this alpha individual tempt you into saying things we have no knowledge of. I sense he isn't happy with some parts of the Qur'an and man is that bad...
Re: Suicide and the hellfire
I'm not saying it's right or wrong. That's only my interpretation and nothing else..

Re: Suicide and the hellfire
I think that's because of that whole thingy in Abrahamic religions about how life is a gift from God, and since people didn't birth themselves into this world then they can't EVER throw life away at the first sign of hardship or they'll burn in hell. I ain't a religious scholar, I'm just spitballing here.AbdiJohnson wrote:How come those who commit suicide are promised with burning in the hellfire in the Abrahamic faiths?
Perhaps the pain of living was greater than the thought of rotting in hell I guess, I don't know.AbdiJohnson wrote:So why do people who commit suicide intentionally go to hell considering the circumstances?

Re: Suicide and the hellfire
There are somethings in this world you're not meant to understand. If you want everything explained to you then what's the point of religion? Religion is belief, if you want to know something go study quantum mechanics.
Also suicide seems like a cop out, unless you're experiencing excruciating pain or something. I would only ever kill myself if I suffered severe dishonour and since I think there's nothing more shameful than killing myself, I would never do it.

There is no hell in Judaism, only in Christianity and Islam.AgentOfChaos wrote:I think that's because of that whole thingy in Abrahamic religions about how life is a gift from God, and since people didn't birth themselves into this world then they can't EVER throw life away at the first sign of hardship or they'll burn in hell. I'm pretty sure “Gehinnom" is in the Torah.Yohannes wrote:There is no hell in Judaism, only in Christianity and Islam.AgentOfChaos wrote:I think that's because of that whole thingy in Abrahamic religions about how life is a gift from God, and since people didn't birth themselves into this world then they can't EVER throw life away at the first sign of hardship or they'll burn in hell. Re: Suicide and the hellfire
In Judaism, Jeiheenom is analogous to the Christian idea of purgatory, where some go to do a short time for their sins, but eventually everyone (whether they go through Jeiheenom or not) will go to Jan-3eidhan, analogous to the idea of Heaven. There is no eternal place of suffering like in Christianity/Islam.
For most of Judaism's history, there was no afterlife at all, and it's really not even emphasized much in modern Judaism either.
In any case, this common belief in eternal suffering in Hell is just another one of the reasons I believe Islam is a Christian heresy.

Re: Suicide and the hellfire
Also, I also don't believe the word Jeiheenom is mentioned in the Torah, just allusions to the idea that if you don't follow the laws of Allah you will be punished.
