What about gentlemanly converts from the Caribbean like Haitians and Jamaicans ? Plenty of us are educated and successful, and very enthusiastic as new Muslims. Perhaps Somali sisters should take notice.

We stick to our own pple, same langauge, same culture..sorry but you guys can never come close to somali men.They're one of kind.

That's not what a lot of Somali sisters at colleges/universities in Ottawa and Toronto are saying, sister. I've seen Somali women with Haitian husbands, and I've seen some with white men and even some Mexican men. Yes, there Mexican Muslims. Sisters who moved into Canada from Mogadishu last week are super traditional and date/marry only Somali men. It's all they know. Somali sisters who've lived in Canada or America their whole lives are more open to dating/marrying men of other colors, other cultures, as long as they too follow Islam. OPEN your EYES, ladies. Peace be upon you.

First of all, Haitians are black, and Somalis are black, so technically we're the same Race, just different Ethnicities. Also, I am a new Muslim and most of my friends at my university in Ottawa are Somalis, Arabs and South Asians. The Haitian culture is predominantly Christian, largely Catholic. I'm not trying to convert Haitians to Islam. I KNOW the response I would get. I'd rather keep an open mind about ladies from other cultures. Also, Somali women are beautiful so why not ?
