SOMALIA: Former Somali Prime Minister Abdirizak Haji Hussein died in USA.



Former Somali Prime Minister Abdirisak Haji Hussein passed away tonight in Minneapolis USA. Following a period of sickness, he finally died on Friday 31st January in The US.

He was born 1924 in Galkacyo, Mudug and died tonight 31.01.2014 at the age of 90 in Minneapolis USA.

Abdirizak Haji Hussein was the prime minister of Somalia between 14 June 1964 to 15 July 1967.

Adbi was also former member of the Somali Youth League, of which he played an important part in the nation’s early civilian administration.

On May 6, 2001, an effort by the Transitional National Government (TNG) to create a 25-member working body, dubbed the National Commission for Reconciliation and Property Settlement (NCRPS), was stalled when Abdirizak Haji Hussein was named as its head. The Somalia Reconciliation and Restoration Council (SRRC) and Puntland leadership objected strongly. Hussein later resigned on July 25, 2001.

He was an individual always known for his integrity and foresightedness.

In the Djibouti conference in 1991, he stood on the podium and told Daarood that they've had their time in Somalia and to accept whatever was allocated to them, be it even the most insignificant portfolios in government. Must have taken a lot of mettle to say something like that.
