He had a visa to freely enter and travel to 25 European countries, including Switzerland and Italy (original destination). Why did he feel the need to hijack a plane?

This guy is Amharan so i think he did if for not only him but also to put Ethiopia's human right on the agenda cos he was living a comfortability back home +his family is very rich and are in the loan shark business so i heard .

If that is not the case then the other thing that comes to mind is that he wanted to live in Europe but his case of reason would of made it hard to get asylum so thought that the subtle way wouldn't of guaranteed it. My 2 cents

Nothing is more uglier than iman la'aan (greed). This man has a peaceful beautiful country, a great job that not only pays well but affords him the opportunity to travel to great many countries. I really don't understand these Ethiopians & Eritreans.

I've heard of Eritreans smuggling themselves into Europe through coffins. Waa dad aan isku kalsooneyn oo wadankoodi loo diiday. Why don't we ever hear about Kenyans or Tanzanians or Swazilanders or Burmese or Laotian or....people from other third world countries jumping into seas to reach Yemen, into the back of trucks destined for the UK..etc etc.?

Hailemedhin isn't an "Amharan" name and there is no one in Ethiopia who thinks of themselves as Amhara. This was not a political statement or someone who took their only chance to escape (like the entire Eritrean soccer team for the last straight 5 years), he flew all over the world and could have dipset anytime. Apparently (according to his family) the poor guy was suffering from mental illness and acting very erratic lately. And he snapped during flight: locked out his pilot from the cabin when he went to the bathroom, threatened the passengers by saying he was turning off the oxygen and to put on their masks, did donuts over Switzerland for 6 hours, and finally jumped out via a rope through a window.

it's sad case out there. you see a doctor asking you how they can emigrate to the west as refugee. once they know you are a Somali with another passport they think you were a refugee.

if was open immigration to any where, none would stayed there.

that is why i want to migrate there, once all somalis and Oromo leave the place.lol
