Spending a couple of million, a few hundred mil tops, to build a few hospitals, roads and schools (something somalis can do themselves) in exchange getting lucrative deals on trillions of dollars worth of resources? Uranium to fuel a burgeoning turkish economy that will soon be sophisticated enough to build nuclear plants themselves?

That's not expensive, that's the robbery of the century. You guys are either the most grateful people on earth or you are seriously deficient in grey matter.

Its still a lose-lose situation. Corruption and clan wars will continue for the next 500 years. I'm not pessimistic but a realist

I would make an agreement with the Turks. I'd let them have 50% of the resources for themselves. Sell it or consume it, I don't care. The remaining 50% is for the Somali people and I would put the Turks in charge with ofcourse Somali officials overseeing. This revenue is strictly for development. Schools, public services, bureaucracy, roads, bridges, orphanages, highways, homes for the poor, etc. I would have this for 10 years. The Turks will teach the Somalis to be honest and trustworthy in the process with the nation's money and resources.

I don't trust Somalis one bit. They are worse than the Westerners who come to exploit Somalis.

I am,

Abdi "Somalis need to accept this agreement" Johnson

I agree...considering the alternatives...60/40..a 40 we will never see..I dont trust the somalis either..most recent reasons I dont..siilaanyo's airport fiasco guurguurte and his missing millions and goods faroole's kids..

You are from Somaliland. Somalia's deals doesn't concern you. Worry about the water shortages and the khat abuse of your laangaab nation. You had peace since 1994 and the triangle is still a shithole and ur youth are trekking desert and crossing seas to run away from the sorry land of yours. Pathetic

Its not like the savage were going to extract the resources and use them for any meaningful purpose.

It is cheaper and more feasible for Turkey to buy this uranium on the world market instead of investing millions in Somalia or Somaliland. Do you honestly think that Somalis will honor treaties or deals signed with foreigners ? Who will enforce these deals ? Genel is wasting its time looking for oil just like Range Resources because they are signing deals with so called governments that are not internationally recognized sovereign governments nor can Turkey challenge the claims of large Western multinationals who haven't relinquished their contracts signed with the Somali Democratic Republic, the last internationally recognized government with the authority to execute such agreements.

 I think it's ridiculous how paranoid Somalis are.

Nobody is in Somalia because they think they can get access to cheap resources. Getting anything done w/ these stubborn Somalis will be harder than going to the Arctic for minerals.

:comeon: Just like the ones falling over themselves to serve kenyans and ethiopians? Or the ones trying to make shitty deals with foreign oil contractors? Somalis are only stubborn when it comes to other somalis. Ajnabis get welcomed with open arms and a warm bed.

Of course they want something in return, be it resources or regional influence. We'll scratch their backs if they scratch ours. Our resources will be exported either way, so might as well Turkey

Delusional focks, there hasnt been a single worthwhile resource discovered in Somalia yet. Keep dreaming. No one wants to invest into serious exploration in a country where every inch of land is claimed by 5 different competing parties.
