10 year election cycle for local politics? That's kind of insane Somaliland but still miraculous on the Somali scale of achievement.

gabre,
local municipal elections which takes place every 10 years also serve as a function to determine which 3 parties can compete in national elections (presidential and parliamentary) in between local elections. our constitution says that only 3 parties can stand for national elections.
my previous post of replacing the current 3 parties would be the best solution for

kulmiye, ucid and wadani are all garbage and all need to be consigned to the dustbin of history

While we're on the topic of radical change, is there any serious contender for a new name for Somaliland? I don't understand why the Somaliland ictiraaf crack team don't take this problem more seriously. If it's fear of turning into the Soomaalidiids everyone calls Somalilanders, why don't you all just incorporate Somali into the long form name of the state like half the Arab states do (eg Egyptian|Syrian|Yemen Arab Republic)? Something like: Adal Somali Republic, short form: Adal. Adali as the currency, dumping the colonial shilling. The dhabayaco managed to rustle up a fake name, why can't Somaliland? Maybe just more incompetence on the part of your leadership?

yes incompetence was the cause for our colonial relic of a name. i would personally change it to velontina

officially the republic of velontina and our nationality would be velontinese kkk.
ps i dont care about the 'soomaliidiid' nonsense when ethnic somalis have five different countries. u cant 'diid' ur ethnicity

The election will happen in 2018, and i'm being optimistic. Voter registration will take place in 2015, and the NEC will have to decide on whether to hold parliamentary elections in conjunction with the presidential, if its held separately the presidential election will likely take place in 2020. Cirro will be the next president, watch
In the meantime Silanyo is getting love from Saylac to Laasqoray, swimming in Batalaale

^ garad13, i hope that if its possible the elections of 2015 can not be held on time for logistical reasons then the parliament's term is extended but silanyo steps aside in 2015 for his deputy saylici who in turn as interim president heads a national unity govt consisting of all 3 parties and a more clan representative cabinet

Kulmiye uma baahna muddo korodhsi wakhtigan, waayo hadday doorashada wakhtigeeda ku qabtaan in 2015, fursad wanaagsan bay haystaan oo markale lagu dooran karo.
Laakiin hadday dib u dhigaan till 2018 fursad aad u yar bay haystaan markaa in lasoo doorto markale.

No it doesn't. You do realize Xaqsoor supporters in Hargeisa alone got over 50,000 in the last local elections? Never mind if you add UCID + WADANI.
Gabiley has less population than Erigavo district, nothing special about it. If WADANI gets the vacant Ahmed Dhagax/Baligubadle votes in Hargeisa +
huge numbers of WADANI, WADANI doesn't need Gabiley votes at all in Maroodijeex. Cirro is a smart man and understands this calculation,
that is why he is slowly absorbing former Xaqsoor party supporters into WADANI party.

Municipal elections don't take place every 10 years thats utter rubbish. Its every five years like the parliament and the presidential.
