America's middle class itself is falling to other nations but the Chinese is not a threat to America economically. The average Chinese is dirt poor. Chinese people make up the largest newcomers year after year in the United States. They all ran away from poverty and hopelessness and will continue to do this for another 100 years. I believe the threat to the US are other Western nations where the threat of being surpassed atleast when looking at the smaller picture is real
The growing inequality of income in this country apparently is doing some serious damage to the middle class.

Indeed, the U.S. middle class is no longer the richest in the world, a title it held for years, The New York Times reports. The U.S. poor also have lost out relative to the poor overseas during the last 30 years. To be sure, wealthy Americans have padded their lead over foreigners.

Canada's middle class, which was way behind the U.S. middle class in 2000, appears to have taken over the No. 1 ranking, according to The Times. Canada's median income tied United States median income in 2010 and almost certainly has topped it since then

The whole economic system of the world is a European invention .. they choose what markets will grow and expand and if any threats emerge they will quickly stamp it out. China is no threat by itself, China+Russia plus a few other rich countries maybe ... that's why Communism was a scary idea and USSR was seen as a threat more than Russia is today. If Communism had prevailed the world might have been a bit more equal in terms of power as most of the power of the world lies in the West.

that silly article from standard and poor is pathetic and is completely discussing a different subject.
yes its not about GDP its not even about the quality of exports like in Japan.
China is undergoing a change in direction from export oriented development towards internal development.
To do that they need to do 2 things
1. Escape the dollar trap
2. Secure resources

If they pull it off and it looks like they are , they will change the entire story.
Standard and poor and their ilk cannot see clearly through those neoliberal glasses,
they think the economy works only the way they were taught .

The chinese system is stable and it seems more accountable than the american system of today,
and we expect a worsening situation in the future,
politically you are headed into dark times, the patriot act was a trail and things will get really interesting from a civil liberties point of view.
say goodbuy to allot of your freedoms.
The constitutional democracy is on its death throws, by the time there is serious opposition and the US public wakeup it would be too late
and the streets will be patrolled by drones.
They have already approved drones for the FBI and soon your local Police department.

I am surprised that the future of the US seems to be heading the direction of allot of the plots from cyberpunk B -movies in the 80's.
difficult task!!

China is worthless nothing but a big factory for humanity all the brains and innovation goes on in the West china does not even have one university on the 100 best university list

the west can stop all its production in china and thereby destroy the fake china economy even a country like Hungary contributes more to humanity than china! Hungary is the worlds's 26 largest contributer to sciense !

USA are still leaders in the world, no one can deny that. However what is certain is that the east will equal the west in power in the future.
80% of the worlds population are non white people today or will be in the future..this alone foreshadows what is to come.

Back before during the enlightenment etc etc etc and after the west had a higher population than the world.

Whites are now a minority among other minorities in California. There is no majority racial group in the state.

"State demographers expected Latinos to surpass the non-Hispanic white population seven months earlier, but Latino birth rates were lower than anticipated. Now, officials say, by March Latinos will make up 39 percent of California's population, edging out non-Hispanic whites at 38.8 percent. Nearly 25 years ago, non-Hispanic whites made up 57 percent of the state, while Latinos made up 26 percent."

Grant how do you feel that your 'race' is under threat. You should invest in reservations.
In 20-30 years, your descendants will be a serious minority, like Shansi in Somalia.
The 'white' fertility rate will be the defining factor in their downfall in America. At least the north east is white.

A noble native American would say Karma, baby.

:stylin: Gurey -- I think like many things we cannot come to understand each others stand point. Its fruitless. U think Russia is faultless and is justified to invade Ukrain and I don't think the same. Lets agree to disagree. Both of us are blinded by our strong emotional allegiance, (u for anti USA, and me for PRO USA) so no intellectual debate can fix it. :dj:

So--macaanto---how is your day?

Starkast,

The country as a whole is going the same way.

My own family is involved. We will be half-Asian in the next generation. White reservations? I think not. America has always been called the "melting pot".

California was originally a Spanish territory, as was the entire SW USA.
White privilege in the US will/has come to an end.
Lament while we rejoice.

How do you feel your 'racial' heritage being washed away ? 'Racially' invaded if you may ?
Your roots unearthed.

Latinos are undertaking a blatant Lebensraum, nonetheless it is there ancestral land is it not ? Maybe that question is better for a 'white' supremacist.

Yes white reservation. http://northwestfront.org/ - they have the Puntland flag also, gotta love that White protestant work ethic. You should a a deposit down. Or start a trust fund for your kids.

China is compared to Japan, forget about USA. Read the following insightful article.

Yet, the quality of growth in China's economy is questionable, which becomes evident when comparing it with Japan, analysts at Standard & Poors pointed out in a note.

"There is more to the Asian financial leadership story than just the GDP (gross domestic product) level," S&P said. "When we examine metrics other than the level of GDP, China still lags Japan in many areas, sometimes by a sizable margin - although it is catching up."
