Nowadays Most Somalis Understand what Cancer is...Arabic language have adopted a direct translation of the word which is "Saradan"..It can't be KUD or FURUQ as they have another medical counterparts... #therefore we have two options, Direct translation as Arabs "Carsanyo" which doesn't make sense or borrow the English word which we are already familiar with. Somali Healthcare professionals just Somalisize it to KANSAR.

And Yeah there are astronomical cases of cancer in Somalia, Liver cancer, throat , Breast and Prostate cancer top the list. ...

Do you remember that case about some uncle or aunt, who was ill for a long time, probably you sent money to, but nobody understood what was wrong with them, some may had ulcers or palpable masses and lesions....until they died...that was most likely cancer.

Xargeeye; furuq is small box.

Kud is the right word. It is the visible cancer. Blood and other cancers are called kudka unugyada (cancer of the cells). In many languages - the germanic- cancer was called crab / lobster because of the shape of the tumour.

Not long ago sudden death due to cancer was common in the industrialised world. That was before screening. Even today, many patients are diagnosed when it is too late.
