Lol I dont hate Somalis ! I love the small part of the population that are smart and open minded. I also love the funny faaraxs and bootylicious Xalimos more than anyother people/race. However , I f-king hate the stupid majority who are, backwards, ignorant, dirty, close minded, retarded mouth breathers and are just plain waste of oxygen. Sadly these fuctards are exactly how the world sees us and are the reason somali teens are ashamed of being who they are.

It is not really a child's fault, growing up in a racially homogeneous town myself I was the outsider, and I reacted very strongly like Potassium to water, got in plenty of fights and kept defending myself and kicked ass, I never wanted to be apart of the white race, I found myself in a tough position as I was proud of my roots and teachers would have none of it, eventually I made everyone respect me through intense argument, fights and generally respecting myself and sticking to my roots.

On the flip side, I hardly spoke Somali growing up and would always feel embarrassed when we had guest over because I struggled with my Somali.

I think if you're born in this country or grew up here from a very young age, it will test you, the society will either break you or make you stronger than the rest, because to be honest the society here is not pro-somali at all.

It depends Adali. I'm assuming you were born or raised in continental Europe. If you are your parents came in the late 80s early 90s. You were either born there or you were a toddler, you learned the language and culture easily and could defend yourself. UK Somalis came much later, they were most likely teenagers and had to go straight into school not knowing how to defend themselves. If your alone, you can stop it. I remember one boy once told me to walk back to Africa, after school I beat him, and nobody tried to bully me ever again. When your in a school full of somalis it's more difficult, one will be bullied, or one won't know the language, one will be a weirdo, just being Somali will be embarrassing. Bullying of somalis is rife in the uk, not just at school but everywhere, every other week I see a Somali person get bullied on the bus or in other public places. I was born in holland and I'm 26 years old, I'm yet go come across someone that's been in the uk 26 years, they are very new immigrants and have no standing.

Somalis stand up for each other. As a kid i was never one who cared about different races or cultures etc i just wanted to kick ball and have fun. Now clearly some youth around me were determined to seperate on racial backgrounds so they brought the heat to us. In my old area we use to play Asia vs Africa, 10 rowdy Somalians versus a bunch of loud mouthed Bengalis whose only bargain was they had older brothers if anyone started shit. After a decade we became good friends though, i guess being Muslim everyone started calling each other akhis and the childhood rivalries disappeared..
