Thought so. The author names his map Alkebu-Lan, 1260 AH. It assumes the plague of 1350 killed more than it actually did, and Europe never became a military/colonial power. What it actually represents is the height of the military power of the Islamic advance, prior to both the European counterpunch and the main African thrust of the Sufi missionary effort.
From a geologic perspective, the Arabian peninsula can be considered part of Africa, the inclusion of which in the map would make better sense with respect to the title of this thread. It's exclusion, and the inclusion of Spain, stretches the logic a bit.
As a matter of fact, Africa was colonized by the Greeks, Phoenicians and Romans long before the Arabs and Europeans got there. The Bantu pushed the San and Bambuti out of most of southern Africa, and the genocide against them continues today: http://www.survivalinternational.org/tribes/bushmen. It was Oman that long controlled the East African slave trade, and Turkey also long had a hand in this pie.. This business of "European colonialism" needs a little more perspective.

I don't think that map is that accurate. Even after colonialism we identify with this map, which is a map based oour language and thus people (Somali). 'Somalia' was never 'clan states' ever.
