Puntlanders love Xamar too much even though they're hated more than anything on planet Earth by the people down there. Baffles the mind tbh. Perhaps your independence will wake them up which is why I wish you guys luck

Hargeisa like all cities is going through a phase and slowly its changing both for better and worse for some areas. All places are the same.

The people building Hargeisa have all the ideas in the world but they know even a simple ladder is built in phases and one step after the other.

Adigu you are stuck in your world of Sim City and Age of Empires where virtual cities grow in hours if not minutes.

Let me see you post one day something about the real world rather than sim city and your idealism world.

Sometimes the best of us is the one who appreciates what others are doing but add a value to it rather than niic here niic there niic everywhere :D

"Hargeisa slowly becomes the most modern Somali city"

The key word being slowly. The fact that people are going nuts over a substandard, relatively small, 3 storey shopping hall that probably sells low quality goods of a very small selection, indicates a sad state of affairs indeed. We ought to hold ourselves to a higher standard.

better looking than deero mall. hargeisa needs few more leisure centers, concert halls, and big international standard cinemas. i know hargeisa theatre is under construction but it must have cinema.

if i am the mayor of berbera i would make beach for women only. somali women paid enormous contribbution to the somali countries. especially somaliland. somaliland must have world's [first] and largest beach for women only. there is huge sandy beach east of bebera. the mayor should pave a road to that area so that our women can have their peice of paradise on earth with out breaking the islamic rules. somaliland have enough female forces who can protect the privacy of the area.

I'm not going to censor myself to appease your low ambitions and low threshold for a modern city. Is there a modern city in the world that doesn't have basic houselhold plumbing and water supply? Go look in the dictionary for the word modern. Sim city kulaha. Hargiesa had stability since 1994, that's 20 years. Nations have changed in less time.

Fyi I commended the businessmen, I just take issue with your misrepresentation of Hargeisa's reality with a shiny building built by a businessman. I have realitives there and they say it is the very opposite of a modern city. No go back to your xabashi topics.

No you are wrong, we were in civil war at that time until 1997. somaliland infrustrature building and rebuilding started at beginning of the last decade.

Yes! Yes, yes and yes.

LH is right though. Why is everyone attacking him. It's like we started dropping houses and shopping centers on a city without the mayor thinking about a real infrastructure. Jigjiga Yar and Bada Cas, an area with many new and beautiful homes, do not have one road. It's like driving through a jungle to get home.

Just last night we had a boyad at our house, like everyone else. It felt so primitive, not of a city with shopping malls like Deero mall and Sacadadiin, and yet majority of homes (if not all?) do not have running water. Why isn't the government taxing us enough? And spending the money on more than the roads we have now (what, maybe 6 roads throughout the city are paved? lol ), running water - even if a water cleaning station for the city, a reservoir....we are not that far from the ocean for these things to be possible.

A little harsh on our progress, but he is right as well. I think our city should have focused on basics first lol.

The government doesn't even have to tax you to pay for massive infrastructure projects. All it needs to do is to restructure the currency and ban the dollar. Instantly their annual budget would quadruple to a billion dollars. Building roads, underground sewage and water networks as will a proper nation-wide power supply would be paid for. This will in turn make it easier for budinesses to expand and this would further increase our annual GDP. But they are not intereste, whether they are stupid, corrupt or just lazy I don't know.
