I now believe more than ever most Qaldaan kids suffer what alot people call Fetal Khat Syndrome. Hooyo or Aabo was a Khat head, so they pass their addiction to their kids. How else would you explain 9yr old kids talking about shitt that they have no business of.

LoL in America, they call kids that were born to crack addicted parents between 1979-1988 crack babies. I think this new generation of Qaldaan kids born after the 1990's are Khat babies.

Khat babies are gonna be the downfall of all us....mark my words. Wait until they grow up

Well easy there Qaldaan boy. You ever been to the U.S or Canada?

Most of the Qaldaans (from Hargeisa, Burco, Berbera) never go or get anything beyond a High School diploma. They are really underrepresented in higher education. Thats why most of 'em are either cab drivers, long haul truck drivers, or live on Shaxaads (asking people in Maqaayado for $20). Or they are just into general crime (like smuggling Khat, or wire fraud, or some other illegal stuff).

This book fair thing in Hargeisa is probably another scheme to get money off UN, since everyone knows Qaldaans aren't really that bright. I haven't been to Europe, but i think the same is true.
You've been a member since 2001? I believe I was a preteen that year. That means you must be old. That also denotes you should have a certain level of intelligence, and this post shows nothing of it. How could you say that they don't get anything beyond a high school diploma? When was the last time you've even been around a northerner? What rock are you living under that most don't value and pursure higher education? Also, where are these drivers? Locals? I am proud of them, they have jobs and aren't sitting around chewing and visiting Dahabshiil every other week. Abroad? Do you realize most of the world doesn't recognize universities from most African/Arab countries, and must therefore work these jobs, regardless of what the are capable of? This has got to be the most stupid post I've come across on this site yet. :?

Thank you Waraabe. I thought the book fair was yesterday? Is it still going on? I wanted to go. Nevermind, I will find out tomorrow morning and update you all. :D Something as positive as a book fair and which as someone said is that well-known...why the heck did they cram everyone into such a small space? I wish they would respect events that are worthy and give them due funds instead of nonsense recognition parties that they sponsor just for more flair. The priorities. More of these types of events, yes please.

Dr Khalid mansour on reading said.... The first thing that came down to our prophet (saw) was IQRA!

"The body is fed by organic food
The emotions are fed by pain and pleasure
And the mind is fed by knowledge, ideas, reading"...

Reading is invaluable. So well done to Laliland.

That little lodge belongs to a family and the equipment there is used by their children and some of the youth in that neighborhood.

Xaaji Dameer there are countless gyms in Hargeisa and if EvolSyawla don't mind she can take pictures of Golds gym in central Hargeisa.

we should promote literacy and reading as much as we can, somaliland literacy target for 2015 is 75% of the population and these book fairs promote it nicely
