I'm a heavy sleeper, but only when i have long days ahead. There is something about forbidden sleep that i love most. The amount of times i've missed a schedule because of over sleeping..

When it's a holiday or i have nothing to do, i can't lie in. I want to make the most of the day so my body wakes up easily..

I used to have that feeling too...Sounds like the problem is not sleep, it's the rest. There are many stages to sleep, but suffice to say, yourre prolly not experiencing the stages of sleep required to rest your body and brain..Some said melatonin strips that dissolve in your tongue might help as it encourages rest during sleep, i dunno....What I did was, I would wake up in the morning, get out of bed right away. This was tough to learn, but it's well worth the effort, I don't use the snooze onn your alarm clock, and if u happen to wake up a little early, just wake up...... I would drink coffee right away, a cup or 2..The problem is when you consume it later in the day( or too much overall)...These are just some basics. Some people need to pay closer attention to their sleep than others.

Also 'catching up' on sleep is a myth..There are some situations you might need more sleep, like an illness, but lost sleep is lost forever..If you get few hrs of sleep on a few days, unless it causes some illness, then sleeping for 12 hrs straight wont get you caught up..You just need 7-8 hrs, beyond that you just restart the sleep cycle....6ish hours works for me, the 8 hour thing is not for everyone.. you may need a little more if you're young

6 hrs is ok although i tend to get tired half way thru the day, but less than 6 hrs i just can't concentrate no matter how much tea i consume or splashing water on my eyes. If i had the luxury to sleep 12hrs i would :eat:

2 pages of replies and Sulfur was the only one that was even remotely close to answering OPs question, Walle you guys are retards. Anyways OP as Sulfur alluded to when we sleep our body goes through cycles of non rapid eye movement sleep (NREM) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Each cycle lasts approx. 90 min. The reason you sleep 8 hours and wake up feeling like shit is because your most likely waking up during the middle of your cycle, or even worse during REM sleep.

You can use sites like this to calculate when to wake up feeling nice n refreshed http://sleepyti.me. Or if your not a dumbass who is capable of simple arithmetic, add 15min to when your going to bed ( that's how long it takes the avg person to KO) and plan when you wanna wake up on increments of 1.5 hours.

Lastly I wanna address this. All you guys do is sit infront of a computer all day and lead sedentary lifestyles. For those who are actually physically active our bodies need atleast 5 sleep cycles or 7.5 hours to recover fully. Everyone should be physically active, doctors recommend that much assuming everyone partake sin some shape or form of physical activity. Unfortunately that isn't the case in the era of the arm chair society.

I've been staying up more lately this past week, but in general I really enjoy 8+ hour long nights.

How do yall function on less then 6 hours damn, that's dead mode for me. I need like 3 sodas to survive the day.
