Russians and Cubans are war criminals, they teamed up with Ethiopia and attacked us like 6 on 1.

He only failed to unite the Somali people because of them, we would have beat Ethiopia and got back our lands.

General Afweyne was not to bad runti the first 10 years his regime had achieved tremendous gains in terms of Literacy and self sufficiency modernized the army though with the help Soviets. Diplomatically he had terrible advisers the Ethiopian war and how the Somali republic went under. But after the war favoritism based on qabiil became to much for people to accept Dhulkanada diyaaradana safaraadanada mar xita waxa la gaadhay in safaraadadha Somaliyaa boqolki ba 90 Qabiilka daroodka ka so jeedaan

But i can understand Hutuking everything is better than the Bantu protectorate of Somalia and the religious zealots detonating themselves

I agree, bad move to invade Ethiopia, it was a decision fuelled by populism and Siad Barre should have known better, we already had Ethiopia under our thumb with multiple rebel movements operating as our proxy forces inside and around the country, the habesha government was on the verge of total collapse and there was no need for invasion, it was fullish glory seeking on our part and in the end it backfired massively, not only did the soviet remove support but they jumped ship, giving funds, arms and man power to the other side but most importantly the soviet gave accurate intelligence which helps the ethiopian military to to this day.

When you're dead and long forgotten people will still debate, discuss, curse but also make duca for Siyaad Barre, he has huge footprint in our history and made a phenomenal impact, speeding up Somali people evolution.

MSB should have tried to screw the Soviets prior to the invasion even if he wanted to invade , if he was really planning to invade ethiopia in the early 1970s he should have tried to play the US versus the Soviets. And allied him self with Washington. The fall out with the soviets could have been avoided. The Americans would have backed The Somali state with weapons training Military aid. There would be balance in the HOA.

You right on the xabashi rebels OLF EPLF and TPLF and WSLF the Ethiopian house was on the verge of collapse. But it wasn't meant to be we went into Ethiopia lost the war and came out bankrupt and the rest we know rebel movements and the demise of the former Somali republic.

Cubans were merely foot soldiers for the Russians. Somalis defeated Ethiopia but, and this is worth noting, Somalia lost the war because of a superpower that financed, equipped and trained Ethiopians, Cubans and others. That superpower was the erstwhile USSR.
Somalia was easily overpowering Ethiopian military hardware and technology capability. Army-general Vasily Petrov of the Soviet Armed Forces had to report back to Moscow the "sorry state" of the Ethiopian Army. The 3rd and 4th Ethiopian Infantry Divisions that suffered the brunt of the Somali invasion had practically ceased to exist

Ahlul bayts probably wanted to start a qabil debate between while he eats popcorn. You guys fell for it.As for siad bare, it is hard to be objectice about him, that is, considering most of our views about him stem from what qabil we belong to. I can predict how someone will view him 70 percent of the time purely based on their qabil. Baasto its 2014 my kneegrows unit.
