I think the author forgot that Lower Juba alone has more resources than this new mamul.
The richest region in Somaliweyn is probably lower Juba followed by lower shebelle.
:wtf:

Lower Jubba can't come anywhere near the break basket of Somalia, L/shabelle. This kid is fuckin ignorant.
The only rich part of Lower Jubba is Jamaame, the rest of the province is pretty much grazing land and savannah.

ps. Banaadir is the richest region in Somalia.

I guys got to dream

Ofcourse, the autonomous/Federal model ensures Somalia will never again be a regional power player militarly. That said its all about baby steps. Besides I see hope that if Somalia finds sustainable peace, there are potential huge ecomonic rewards down the road.

I suppose we have to start giving serious consideration to the prospect but to put it simply Sahal, if Reer Hiiraan want to make a stand alone, I'm all for it :D

I know our folks have been engaged in serious internal discussions for the past week and the issue is apparently polarizing. Some heavyweights are dead set on Hiiraan standing alone. We'll see how it goes. Wonder what Reer Jowhar think of it all?
If the president was different it will be harder, relations play big role in this state

Firstly, hassan sheekh and his cabdalle wife qamar deal with hiiraan through their close relations then these guys in their turn will sortout within hiiraan and the interior minister so the decitions and policies come from them, that means they have influence on his policies regarding hiiraan

Then the interior will discuss this with various reer hiiraan politicians and elders and he's now forming a committee of 27 members in wich 14 are hawadles to represent hiiraan

Many politicians are attending like ex ministers cali cabdullahi osoble, abdinur sheekh, abdirizaaq omar and politicians like mohamud cabdi gaab.

Now when it comes to abgaal, president deals with them through his advisers like geedi

In their turn they will...

So far there has been a meeting between the president and the politicians from the two regions

You can say abgaal-hawadle arrangements for power sharing.

GI,
I was not comparing Lower Juba to Lower shebelle.
Lower Juba has more available farmland and room to grow.
Lower Shebelle is at its limit, because the river is not big enough to support any increased agriculture.
Also the salinity of the shebelle means that it cannot sustain high levels of irrigation for very long.

Lol FACTS: hiiraan has more arable land than lower jubba let alone lower shabelle!.

For farming you need a water, water doesn't run in lower jubba as much it runs in hiiraan from jalalaqsi to kabhanley!.

You're wrong again. In Lower Jubba you can only do commercial farming in Jamaame district which is small part in the northern part of the province. It can never reach the Sh/hoose where the river almost flows through the whole region. There's plenty of farmland left in Sh/hoose. The agricultural production of the region today is much lower than pre-1991.

Yes, while fertile (dhoobey) land is plentiful in Lower Shebelle, there is not enough water in the river to irrigate those lands.
The people from Beledweyne, Jowhar, balcad all the way to Qoryooley are sucking water from the river.
By the time the river reaches the ferile Sablale in southern Shebelle, it is gone, a dry river bed.
The people in Southern lower shebelle actually use rain water for their farms.

Mareerey Juba Sugar Project (largest and most expensive factory in somalia before it was looted by usc)
Mugaambo Rice Irrigation Project near Jamaame
Fanole Dam Project located near Jilib
Arare Banana Irrigation Project
Bardere Dam Project

Last time i checked all these projects weren't in lower shabelle.....however what is true lower shabelle is the most productive today, but maybe because it so close to Mogadishu, biggest market in the horn, and has been for decades been developed for this market.
Lower shabelle, jubbland...its all for somalis.. :som:

not necessarily, not if you think out of the box.
what if we formalize the current relationship between Somalia and Somaliland?
You would get what i always advocated, an assymetric confederation.
It would give the appearance of a weak state, but the biggest weakness we have is lack of institutions.
even a weak federal and autonomous grouping can become united and cohesive overnight.

I believe we should encourage the appearance of weakness, it benefits us .

Guray is the most idealistic from Somaliland he wants to even combine Somaliland success with that of Somalia a 2 way side success. To be honest non of the leaders of Somaliland and Somalia will ever compromise. There is to much bad blood hostilities that no one ever addressed. We will continue to piss on each other. For most of the southerners they dont understand what Somaliland gave away in 1960 to have the Somali republic. There is a 3rd way to both protect our strategic interest in the horn of Africa on a equal platform created by both of our nations. If we only could make deals between our selves, this seems to be impossible we are to proud. There has to be a xabashi a nickolas kay a Turk sitting around the table.

A functional organization build on Somali solidarity The Union of Somali republics where we have a share chair person where every sovereign state has an equal share. Like the European union we maintain our nationalities Djibouti Somalia Somaliland NFD but have a common shared strategic union based on justice equality shared values shared principles. But this cannot happen in the next two generation for that to happen the rights of the Somaliland has to be fully respected, and i dont see that happening any time soon well atleast not from Somalia corners they are determined to keep the cancerous union intact. And the Somalilanders are determined to break that cancerous union in the eyes of the international community cost what cost knock every door collude with every single state nation on earth to achieve their goals there are limits to break the cancerous union. 24 years and counting in one year and a half Somaliland and Somalia will be apart half a century. Years from now you will not have the likes of Siilaanyo and Muse Bixi and Ciiro who all remember the union a new generation that will move the nation forward. I dont see how this can change in the future.

Murax for Somaliland recognition or no recognition it wont change i actually believe the lack of recognition has made Somaliland stronger they should withhold the recognition for a few more years. Somaliland nationalism has to be fully matured its going the right way now.

The Arabs cant change anything the Arabs dont provide Somaliland with support any ways. the west is very neutral they all want a peaceful solution for the SL and Somalia hence the talks brokered by them. The west (international community) believes that SL should not be recognized by them they dont want to hurt Somalia when it down and take Somaliland from them. Somalia should have hope. Eventually Somaliland will get there , the question will Somalia get there will it survive when it has so many adversaries and it has so many domestic problems only Allah knows.

This couple was born in the late 1980s living in SL
Their daughter has no baggage of Somalia , the Somaliland people 70% are under 35

I support the independence of Somaliland, on one condition.
A UN sanctioned referendum is held at the degmo level of each state. Then the degmos that vote 50% or more in favor of secession get to leave. Very simple and fair in my opinion.
