Yes, the idea of torrents is slowly spreading @Twist. I'm surprised to see a few of my cousins with torrent programs.

(Though it's ethically wrong AND illegal) I think it is better than those shitty old VHS cassettes & CD-Rom disks they were running around with, plus the fact they'll get HD movies (including Bollywood as well). The only other thing left after that is to import Khat trees and plant them back home & the public will save millions of dollars every year.

About the khat production at home (though I don't chew it), think about all the money that is going to waste for buying and importing that shit per day. I couldn't believe when I first read on the net the money Somalis spend on khat import every day for no returns at all (in khat business, money goes overseas and you get leaves in return with no financial gain in return at all).

For us who don't chew in the first and don't trade in it, it wont directly effect our pockets that much whether the status quo is in place or not but in the event an alternative to the current importing method is found (like planting the trees in the country hypothesis), it will save a lot of money and hence improve the local economy immensely, I think.

Every time I am in xamar, I use torrents to download my fave tv shows. I haven't seen many people who use torrents except for the diaspora. And you know not everyone in xamar can afford these high speed Internet as they are way expensive.

Warsheikh, $50 is the slow one but good for those who haven't seen what a high speed Internet looks like. I mean for them it's fast. But the one I use back home costs me $200 from Somalia Wireless Internet company and it's unlimited.
