nayaa are you blaming somali men for the high divorce rates in somali community? if yes, i will happy to donate my sperm to you for free.Machiavelli2 wrote:What makes the wedding to a Somali a necessity? Our divorce rates are higher than Mexicans, once divorced the majority of Somali kids will never see again their Somali father. That African guy could be a better husband and father than many of us. Somali Families with fathers want more than grandchildren. They want a functioning husband for their daughter and an active father for their grandchildren. Otherwise, the sperm bank is cheaper and less of a hassle.

Why do folk, whom have been living in the west for decades, act surprised when Somali's marry out.?

Hmm! Is this "story" related to that of Warsheekh's? Or it's that 'Lets-target-Xaliimos' time of the month?
If it's true then it serves them (her family) right.

twist my thread had nothing to do with targeting xalimos. Just about ignorant parents. two different things mate.

Forget about marriage altogether, its best to die a virgin. I suggest making a photo quilt of multiple degrees and let it keep you warm at night. You are guaranteed not to be disappoint your family or never get hurt by anyone. Plus, no unnecessary weight gain.
Sometimes I considered this option.

What stopped you the degree part or the virgin part?

Actually neither. I have both. The only thing to deal with is the unfortunate stigma of being an old maid or "gashanti". Society has a tendency to see a lady as depreciating value all because of their biological clock, and Somalis love to make it seem like a smaller window than it actually is. They treat a 28 year old like someone that is 35+ in western years. You notice a lot of singlism in society, its more prevalent among ethno-cultural communities *cough, cough* like Somalis. However, I think its better to be single than to be considered a let down or miserable.

I think no matter how many degrees you collect, unless you have people to share your success with it will be hollow. Somali girls, that's those who have spent a lifetime learning are in this strange position of not getting what the think they deserve. It's like sense of entitlement and if they don't get it they will sulk away alone..
Re: Fam refused her 2 marry 2 somali guys, now they regretti
Unrealistic pressures are placed on some Somali females in the west. On one hand, they are pushed to become successful academically/professionally whilst simultaneously castigated for being a singleton when they cannot find a suitable partner to match their hard earned status.
I will IA raise my daughters, if Allah wills I have some, to have simple aspirations in life; motherhood and become a good Muslima!

1) What's wrong with entitlement?
2) Who says there aren't suitable matches? - You dudes act like all Somali guys are chimney sweeps that haven't seen the inside of a classroom.
