There are tons of decent & honourable Halimos in Toronto, usually, we only hear and read about those few bad apples. God bless them.

The one thing I love about that city is that people dont lead double lives. What you see is what you get. There is consistency. No one judges you whatsoever. They are also the most liberal of any immigrants I've ever seen. I dont know what made them the way they are. They don't hide anything. If they want to go to a bar patio, they dont think twice. If they want to bring their girlfriends and boyfriends home, they do. They go to the movie theatres with their parents watching Rated R movies. The baati has been ditched for jeans. Hoyoo will be listening to Gucci Mane and Michael Jackson

lmaooo damn all true...the parents here are a lot cooler and more understanding too. certainly i can't speak for all of them but for the most part toronto somlians are the most liberal, or most of ontario, ottawa excluded.

Lollll are you two in half white homes?

I got beat for staying out late. We had to play music w earphones and no 'blaring'. Hooyo always had Quran ringing in the house. Baati always indoors w/googarad and jeans w long sweaters.. Somalis definitely judge.

I dunno. I grew up w first/second gen Somalis from good homes. Never lived in the Somali ghettos so we would be beat for behaving like that at home or in public lol duplicity was necessary around Somalis my dear.

Everyone's impression of Toronto is subjective. My upbringing wasn't around too many Somalis, and even then it was always family friends or relatives, but my parents weren't as liberal as AbdiJohsnon replied, they weren't traditionalists either. I didn't have to wear sheet dirac at home, but at the same time they were relatively conservative which is why I ended up straight-edged. I'm not judgemental though I actually have a to each his own philosophy.

Wow thanks Evol thanks. My question is are you getting married, better yet who is? Fill me in please.

KnowThySelf: I don't know, I don't attend many but the ones I did were female-only. Nice to see all the ladies in their finest and whipping out their best Image.
