col. abdikadir koosaar (aun) first snm chairman along with a few elite 'Hy sayyid cali' guuto members captured several ships in 1983 carrying military equipment & tanks off the coast of sanaag destined for berbera. col. koosaar docked the ships at maydh port. capturing ships with arms was how the snm got their arms in the early years of the struggle, it was much need since bebera, saylac, lughaya were under the fagash authority.
