Some people may disagree, but that is my opion.
This would never work, even if there is peace there would never be full justice. The people share the same language and religion. But they are politically different. The only thing uniting somali right now is the aid money.
Plus it is better to have many smaller countries than 1 big country, we would still be allies. Look at the gulf countries for example smaller nations than before, but all allies and all very succesful. Compared to when Arabia was united. And look at the soviet union, the counties that broke away are doing much better.
Yeah those two only!Image

We had Sayyid Abdullah Muhammad Hassan which unified all Daroods and Hawadles. We had Siad Barre that made Somalia powerful and fought Ethiopia for the Ogaden. Please don't just spew nonsense, we all know the Somali problem isn't about having one 'great leader'. Somalia is a mess because of endless clan rivalries and the xaasidnimo of tribes that don't have their clansmen in the top job. Even If we did have a great leader he would be murdered or cast aside by a rival tribe. Say PM Farmaajo and Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed, they weren't legendary but they were both cast side because they were doing good work for their. We can't have anything good, and when we do we have people that ruin it for us. Instead we ended up with morons like HSM and Sharmarke.

In terms of government it is time for a complete restructure. Gone are the days of Siad Barre's central government when one authority had complete control of the every aspect of the government. It's time for Somalia to establish a government where the regional states have their own autonomy in government, something similar to the Ethiopian ethnic Federalism. Everyone runs their own region the way they want to and the Federal government doesn't get involved. Also these Federal regions should not be able to maintain their own defence forces, rather they are somehow integrated and all tribes get a share of the high ranking officials. We should unite but not in the way Somalia was back in the day rather by having Hawiyes running Hawiyeland, Daroods running Daroodland, and Isaaqs running Isaaqland etc. No tribe should be able to government somebody elses region at all since we can't get along too well either because of our rivalries our grievances.

The Federal government right now has no power. They have no authority outside Mogadishu let alone in all of Mogadishu, they are fighting a loosing battle with Alshabab, and cannot maintain an armed forces that can be considered decent by any standard. I don't see how they could possibly force Puntland or Somaliland to follow their stupid model of complete and central control. PL and SL maintain their own armed forces and would not simply give up their power, they might however make a compromise if appeased by the government with semi autonomy. If the Federal Government wants to progress forward they need to adopt this type of system. Unsurprisingly it seems as though all European nations follow a similar system. They have a Federal government, and then a state government, and below that local councils. We need something like this in Somalia. This is the only way I see Somalia uniting and progressing with great haste.

Some of you are here celebrating HSM's achievements like he made a world of change, I am not belittling them. Honestly, the progress he has made in 4 years is not that much when you exclude the turkish aid projects. Before you guys say he was instrumental in those projects, I must tell you that Turkey promised to do more Somalia during the Sheikh Shariff era and that they worked alone when delivering the projects. The changes that have taken place as a direct result of HSM have not been great, especially when you look at something as crucial as security. Security in MOG is still terrible, Al Shabab can attack these hotels and government installation with unbelievable ease. Even corruption, we only made progression with curbing corruption when we had Farmaajo. And it was Farmaajo that started paying the soldiers.

Anyways, with the coming election we need to pray that somebody better than HSM takes the government. Perhaps someone like Farmaajo or Abdiweli Sheikh so we can make excellent progress. Hopefully Turkey can mess with the elections in a way that benefits us. Hopefully they are looking out for us in this one. I hope so anyway.

Not really. Puntland and Somaliland have shown great promise in the last 25 years. Have both been very stable. They are the only two regions in Somalia that have acheived true stability and have estalished a functioning government. They are better at providing services for their people than the Federal Governement which receives incredible help internationally. Even PL and SL have began infrastructure projects for which they found funding. Look at SL, they are going to have their upgrading port to a modern standard and they are building that dam, all this they are doing alone. PL has got their Maakhir University project, Bosaso port is set to be expanded, and the Garacad port is coming although we haven't heard anything about that lately. Lets not forget the highways and suburban roads being built in and around PL and SL. What I'm trying to say that PL and SL have isolated themselves as clan states and are doing so much better than the rest of Somalia, to say the clan state system wouldn't work is not fair. PL and SL are truly an example for the rest of Somalia. PL and SL would be doing much better today if they were receiving the help the Federal government does but they have done well on their own, and today the future looks great. The only hopeless clan state is Galmudug to be honest. Although they are building the Hobyo port their state was created by exploiting clan rivalries and it uses conflict as its only tool in getting its agenda done. They are fighting for all of Mudug atm which is quite outrageous given they only live in South Mudug. Galmudug is the only state that does not show much promise. Jubbaland, Hirshebelle and SWS on the otherhand will be do great when al shabab is chased out of the whole jubba river valley (their natural home) and the other states. Jubbaland and Hirshebelle have great farmland and this can be used to kickstart their economy when money and knowledge are put in. They will great potential in the near future if they can fix their houses.

Iam all for this separation and everyone should go thier own way, but the reality is that it isn't happening, this federation is the only think that makes sense in Somalia, matter fact let's all focus on our respective regions and leave each other the hell alone, let Everyman run his affairs from economic to millitary and even foreign relations which btw is what is happening right now.
