what you displayed was that is going on in the media today and has been going on for sometime, the deliberate mischaracterization of Muslims and nothing but, that is why i picked it up on you. we are being portrayed as savages and barbarians for the sole purpose of dehumanising Muslims, so that every atrocity done to Muslims becomes acceptable. that is the dangers of a singular story, you tell a single story of a group of people over and over again and that is what they become.

for someone who was at least born into a Muslim family and have Muslim family, I'm just saying you should know better.

i never called you primitive or a savage....all i said is that you guys aren't tolerant to other religions....i probably should've said snetters instead of muslims...but you get my point...i didn't say there was anything wrong with islam or muslims....i was just saying theists in general don't like people of other faiths... after you said this it was easy for me to dismiss you completely, even though i can take the time to try to explain and turn this into a teaching moment, i wont. you're not a foreigner to me, you're a fellow Somali sister with a Muslim background. when Bill Maher said all Muslims supported extremist, everyone but bigots called him a bigot because he generalized an entire 1.6+ billion people. you just tried to defend generalization.

don't ask me or any other Muslim to step up and teach or speak up against other Muslims who according to you are hateful when nobody asks Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and Atheists to speak up against their fellow terrorists in Burma, Palestine, Africa (lords resistance army and the anti-balaka), Pakistan, Iraq where atrocities against Muslims are being committed. and atheists like Bill Maher and Sam Harris spreading Islamophobia in the media. a vastly disproportionate amount of war and violence is happening/has been happening in Muslim countries for decades. can you imagine how a child who has literally lived through a war, has seen family members die in atrocious ways before their eyes time and time again can grow up to be in any way normal regardless of religion, upbringing, culture?

it irks me that you can't even admit the OP meant this thread to be provocative and get negative reactions from Muslim forumers.

honestly.....i was actively trying to not offend anyone but some how i offended you....im sorry...i didn't mean to generalize but all i do is generalize on this site (if you haven't noticed) as an ex muslim i know better then to judge muslims for the actions of one idiot...(namely most snetters on here) most of my muslim friends are very tolerant and liberal...so i apologize if you took it the wrong way...i just was trying to say that we ALL should love one another as equals regardless of race, religion, or qabil....
