Brother and sisters as long as there is crisis back home and the country is not prospering, may it be Somalia or Somaliland, there will never be a Somali billionaire or a big Somali artist and we will always lack professionalism. Somali's are great hardworking people, but we lack a foundation and that's our homecountry.

Our entertainment industry, music industry , movie industry all turned into xaaaaaaar

i don't know if a lot of people even listen to that tho....somali music needs to revamp itself....its too....not modern...and the autotune is unbearable....and the dance music vids are just one/two people doing the two step and behind them is a green screen that shows images of nature lool

heres a check list

1) kill the autotune....none of them heifers can sing anyway...find talented people next time
2) hotter stars...wtf most of those girls are diana queens or can't dress sexy for shit (we need a somali beyonce) get sexier clothes...no one wants to see a 20 year old habier....i want sara from the block....na'mean?
3) actually work hard on your videos dammit
4) somali female rappers (easy money right there)
5) you need an entourage to do your hair and makeup ....to be a star.. you got to look like it
6) learn to dance...im tired of the goose necking and the two step....like shit man
7) please....for the love of god....wright better music...were supposed to be a nation of poets dammit
8) no more fobs...im tired of y'all ....so awkward to watch
9) faraxs.....you need a body...you can't look like "i am the captain now" and be famous....find a damn gym...fml
10) last but not least social media....this is your platform to interact with your fans.... build your fan base...etc. etc.

It's not "Rappin" but I thin I saw you post on the Somali girl in NFD. You know the lighskined girl with the big arms wearing blue and say things like chi chi chi chi or something while moving like a rapper with her Black friend and Somali entourage.

What the f-king hell is this xaar. Kill the Autotune I agree, but hotter starts. WTF. We are not trying to westernize our music industry, just modernize it , have better directors. Yeah we can have a hotter star, but one representing our culture and style and not some Western copy bootleg monkey. Working hard on the video should be placed on the directors and editors, simply we don't have a industry. Entourage and all that stuff should be placed under the industry. Dancing is not necessary, 2 step is enough, we just need more scenery in the music video's. Lyrics used to be top of the charts in the old days, nowadays most songs are copies of the old ones. They have social media, but don't commercialize as big as Western companies, again cause our industry is shit.

i agree with most of that^ but...

when i say sexy i don't mean copy western world...i just mean...stars these days are admired and that admiration is what sells...if your fans don't foam at the mouth at seeing you live in concert your doing something wrong...wear sexier clothes doesn't mean western...it just makes it more entertaining to watch then a baati wearing habier doing the two step...

and on that note i disagree with you on the dancing part....dances are crucial when your doing music....
if you music is super mellow..then sure....but if your trying to creat music that people are going to turn up to.....learn how to dance...it makes the song more hype when you move with the rhythm and creat your own dance moves like most african artists do.....we need a somali version of the azonto movement

lol no we don't need those azonto monkeys lmao, a singer doesn't necessarily have to dance yes he can include dancers in his music video. We can have hot singers no problem and we need more scenery and recordings in our home country like the old days , these days those singers record their songs in a foreign country, what a bunch of chumps. :eat: I can't blame them waa nin iyo naftiisa nowadays, no industry , everything collapsed with the government. Somaliland would have had one if it was recognized decades ago, but foreigners love seeing us Somali's at each other throat and weak.

it's all about originality , if we copy those azonto monkeys or anyone else, we wouldn't be special would be, it's our uniqueness and lyrics that are making all these Sudanese people and Ethiopians redo our songs. We don't need to be like Westeners where only hot artists can make it in the industry. That's what I always loved about our music industry, it was about lyrics and songs and originality. Yes look is a plus  no one can disagree with that.

with the rebirth of Zoomalia the industry is slowly rising.

Look at this cheaply produced video, 2 million view, beautiful voice and song. You can tell more Somali's are getting interested in the songs again.

Do i care how she looks? No I don't. Did she deliver the song well? Yes she did!

Now we just need a good industry and commercialize everything and build institutions.
