But Islamic banks are not very profitable. Some of them charge transactions. Its hard to get loan. And most Islamic banks don't do overdraft.
Either way Islamic banks are not god for customers, and they are not very profitable for Investors.

Yes, I've read about how the Islamic economic model focuses on stable long-term growth rather than the exponential growth you see nowadays in China and India. The benefit to this model is that the Islamic economic system is generally free from the boom&bust cycle you see in most modern economies. So instead of having 10% economic growth, the Islamic economy would have a more stable 5% economic growth but it would be consistent and not subject to the severe boom&bust cycle that exists nowadays around the world. The profits are still substantial, but not as much as you'd see in the USA or China or other nations.

Interest is not forbidden in Islam. Riba (usury) is forbidden and this is not the same as minor inflation/risk protecting interest.

Banking while using fiat currencies without interest protection is totally retarded.

I will say that it takes a working knowledge of plumbing to get hot water out of your shower, and twice I have stayed here and been to ignorant to manipulate the incomprehensible and unmarked valves in the right way.

I mean, I stayed at the Ras in Harar and there was no water. Period. So not hot water isn't going to kill me.

The restaurant is adequate. And if you eat moderate portions you might not get the runs.

I seem able to sleep well, and given that the bed is as soft as a sheet of plywood, thats something. Wait ... it IS a sheet of plywood.

The fact is, stay elsewhere in Jimma and you will regret it more than you will regret the Honeyland.
