I see a new pattern emerging lately and as Somalis used to say, "Hashu maankeyga gaddaye ma masaar bey liqday?" It seems even if you mind your own business & practice 'Live and let live' Somalis won't leave you alone. I was wrong to be critical about AbdiJohnson's controversial and 'in-your-face' approach as Somalis don't respect 'qun-yar socod' folks.
lol twist, my friend, i know you mind your own bussness which is great. i never though gaal was insult for some one say' i am gaal.
either ways; raali noqo.

@zuumale isn't "gaal" an insult to those who are non muslim? so obviously he was in the wrong here.
Re: The Psychology Of The Web Troll
No Platinum, it is not an insult. In the Somali language, anyone who is not Muslim is a Gaal. There is no word in Somali for atheist, agnostic etc. There is no native Somali word for other religions either. There is just the blanket term 'Gaal'. Hence, there is no need for someone to become emotional about being called something that they are. No judgement involved in calling 'a spade a spade'.PLATINUUM wrote:@zuumale isn't "gaal" an insult to those who are non muslim? so obviously he was in the wrong here.

Some of the questions you ask are baffling. Not this one necessarily but your familiarity with basic Somali territorial divisions, clan structures etc indicate that you either rarely interact with Somalis or (pardon me) that you are an alien troll.

LOL i guess i wasn't raised around too many people who talk about clans or are this invested in it, until i discovered snet that is. and most somali people i meet in canada never ask my clan, there just glad they found another somali. plus I'm only here to learn about somalis, but so far you guys just keep airing your dirty laundry and I'm getting nothing but the negativeszumaale wrote:Some of the questions you ask are baffling. With that definition, since you don't believe what I believe, then to me you're gaal as well. Hadduu aabahaagana rumaysnayn waxa aan aniga rumaysnahay (oo ah agnosticism) isaguna waa ii gaal marka to me waxaad tahay gaal gaal dhalay.zumaale wrote:Hyper, no need to apologise, you were not being offensive. How does it feel now? Are you enjoying the game, mate? Bring it on, son.
Re: The Psychology Of The Web Troll
Osman. no need to get emotional. Gaalnimada kalsoni ku qaab, maxad ka xanaqe, inanka been mu ka sheegin. Come to terms with you are and embrace it like Abdi Johnson does.
Re: The Psychology Of The Web Troll
Nah, don't flip that shit on me, mate. I noticed you like mincing and playing with words, plus you enjoy throwing yourself in the middle of other members' chats just to stir shit up. You shouldn't come between me & Hyper as we know each other well enough & are adults who don't want an interpreter.
And most importantly, who said I am not in terms with my beliefs, or lack thereof? Did you see anyone putting gun to my head and forcing me to say I don't believe in religion in the first place? Dude, if anything, it seems you're on a shaky ground, hence why you seem to get involved in things that don't concern you at all. Believe what you have to believe and other people's beliefs are non of your concerns. I know and you know how many times people cried "Why don't these atheists/gaalos leave the diin alone and get on with their lives?" etc and that's where I am coming from. When people mind their own businesses and then you lot need to do the same, well, unless you feel like losing your own faith and you want some help, then say it.
