I think sex is generally frowned upon in Somali society, We are a conservative religion so obviously Waasmo talk it taboo. (the very word of waasmo sounds violent and cringe worthy) But public display of affections are all over Somali societies. Go to Somalia and u will see two farahs, or xalimos holding hands in the streets, strolling, looking at each other lovingly gay as in happy, and affectionately. While we western frown upon that-- the Somalis in Somalia think it is absolutely normal. LOL

Isnt it a contradiction to frown upon sex, yet be okay with public display of affection. I think hindi movies have had an impact in the way Somalis relate to each other now romantically. But looking at Qarami songs, Male and female singers even back in the days would display affection on stage, it wasn't frowned upon, nor considered uncommon, maybe it was just among urbanites.

Let's not delude ourselves, there is no romance behind closed doors that is going on, it just means that they are in a relationship of convenience. Convenience because culturally the alternative is worse. If I were you I'd just accept it and do things your way.
