I agree ina adeer, we are becoming shorter and fatter because we consume more sweets, oily stuff and soft drinks. Though most of the boys are active with activities and burn these fats, they are susceptible for diseases like diabetes type 2 that is destroying our communities. Meanwhile, the females are getting larger and prone to many health problems at a very young age. If we consume unhealthy foods at this rate, in two decades or less, it will be hard to tell the differences between a shanika and a Halima.BaastoUnit wrote:health eating is un-somali.Machiavelli2 wrote:This is the sort of food (sugary & fat based) that is causing obesity related health problems among the female Somali population in the diaspora. Most of my relatives of the age of 50 are either diabetic or died of that cursed upon us disease. Even if one carries the gene of type 1 inherited diabetes, it requires a change of lifestyle such as eating healthy and exercises to prolong being diagnosed. Also, type 2 diabetics is now prelevant in our community due to our changed lifestyle. Obesity especially among women/girls with children is very high.
