leftist, there is always an exception to the rule. Bringing individual cases does not vindicate your argument. What matters is statistics. And statistics show that an equally qualified and experienced AA, asian and latino will get less pay than a white for the same job. An AA is more likely to get pulled over despite statistics showing that whites are slightly more likely to actually have drugs/illegal substances on them when they get pulled over. It shows whites have statistically less premiums on mortgages and loans than AA which drastically changes the playing field in getting access to financial aid. Statistics also show white have 20 times more wealth than the average AA of the same class background due getting government assistance and easier Loans throught history. Services that madow had no access to until recently.

I don't think Somalis have as much obstacles ahead of them but they, like every non-white, suffers from one form of discrimination or another. But I don't think we should assume we as Somalis have the same experience as Madows in NA.

Sure, blacks have suffered and were discriminated against for a very long time. And if it wasn't for African American fight for civil rights and paving the way, most minority groups (including Somalis) would not have been here.

I was just reading Yahoo! News, and the first headline was about that Oklahoma Fraternity thingy where students were caught on camera singing some racist stuff.

I feel like there are certain groups who are really pushing for some kinda confrontation between the races. Every small incident becomes a national headline and even the white house gets involved in it.

And each side becomes more distrustful of the other and the cycle continues.

Minorities (including Somalis) really need to stop crying foul or racism at the drop of a hat.

Personally, I get alone just fine with everyone in person (Cadaans, Madows, Indho-Yars, Arabs, Mexicans). I don't believe anyone owes me shit or do i walk around with a chip in my shoulder. I might troll here, but offline, I am friends with every Somali I come across, regardless of Qabiil.

In all honesty, this is a Cadaan man's country and we are all just guests. Provoking them would do nothing more than stoke the fire. I am not saying u shouldn't stand up for ur rights and religion, but at least be sensible in choosing ur battle and look at the overall picture...which is, we are MARTI in their land.
